Quake: Quakecon Rule Changes

By: Rod Breslau - Published July 28, 2006 at 5:13 PM EDT - Writer Archive
Quakecon has made some slight rule changes for it's Quake 4 2v2 and Enemy Territory tournaments.
Every edition of Quakecon thus far has seen some complaints from the community about the official tournament rulesets. This year is no different, and the following changes have been made:

Enemy Territory:
- Registration extended to 16 teams
- The tiebreaker map for Enemy Territory matches will be selected as follows: The two maps played in the first two rounds are removed from the map pool. Each team then is allowed to throw out two maps each - one at a time. The remaining map is the map to be played in the tiebreaker.
- CFG Changes
For Radar:
forcecvar r_drawfoliage 0

For all maps:
setl team_maxSoldiers -1
setl team_maxMedics -1
setl team_maxEngineers -1
setl team_maxFieldOps -1
setl team_maxCovertops -1

Quake 4 2v2:
- Timelimit has been extended to 20 minutes per map

Server configs for each game can be accessed at the following locations:

Quake 4 1v1 and 2v2 Server Config
Enemy Territory Server Config

USB Rate Switchers will NOT be allowed at QuakeCon, due to the risk of damaged hardware. Device drivers will NOT be loaded onto the tournament client machines by default. You are required to bring your drivers on a USB Pen Drive if you wish to use anything other than default system drivers.
