Rod "Slasher" Breslau sits down with Sabian "Clamp-ok" Hayblum about day 1 of DigitalLife. ![]() Hey Sabian, what's up? Not much, chillin. What are your thoughts on the event so far? Do you like the venue, event setup, computers, monitors, etc? I think this is one of the best setups so far in terms of the venue and setup. GGL is the first organization to realize that the Quake players have a real problem when seated next to the CS players who seem to yell at the top of their lungs when they win a round. Other than that, the PCs are good (no fps issues) and so are the monitors. Staff been pretty helpful as well so I'd say it's a good event. How does it feel to defeat 2gd here after your loss to him at ESWC? DigitalLife Q4 Upper Round 2
Obviously to beat another good player feels good, especially since 2gd beat me back at ESWC. That being said there are still alot of tough matches ahead of me so hopefully I can beat some more good players. 2gd also promised me that hed come back from the lowerbracket to avenge his loss. Both maps ended in very close fashion, with you almost blowing monsoon. Could you explain your thoughts on each match? Well at ESWC, I lost to 2gd on two maps that I hadn't practiced during bootcamps (blip and lost fleet). But this event had the main maps that are being used in Quake 4 nowdays. On phrantic I started out 2-0 but after each kill i ended up with 30 or so health so I was never in the position to take full control from 2gd. He was really hammering rockets at me all game and within the last minute or so I managed to catch him off guard while he was jumping to the lightning gun. Then on monsoon I started out with full control and was up 10-0 in about 3 minutes. At that point I was in full control, but 2gd managed to confuse me with sound, as he ended up right behind me, pumping 3 rockets into me. He went into full control and I decdided to try and play a running game if I could. I played defensivly and the match came down to the wire, where I decided to camp for the last 15 seconds. With one second left he came right over my head, but the game ended before he could shoot a rocket at me. What are your thoughts going into tomorrow's match vs toxic. Do you believe you can be the first player in a long while to defeat him? I think Toxic is the best Quake 4 player right now, but I think that eventually he will have to lose to someone. Whether I will be that person who knows, but I am going into this game as the clear underdog so hopefully I can play a good and close game at least. What are your strategies heading into the match against Toxic? I plan on spamming a lot of coollers old binds to throw toxic off, and realized that maybe I am, the Australian Cooller. Thanks for the interview! No problem. | ||||||||||||||||||||
