Quake: Jibo tells All

After your 9-12th placing at CPL Winter 2005, you had less than stellar performances at Dreamhack and Quakecon, what happened?

If you can aim, you will win, it's not interesting. I don't want to race with all players for practicing aim, I just dislike that type of play :). I lost because I didn't practice. I can't play a game which I dislike.

Quake 4, you mean?

Yep. My 9-12th placing at CPL Winter was only because all players at that moment hadn't had a lot of practice so they were all at almost the same aim level. Players who use aim to win, toxic, Stermy: LG/RG; forever, Ztrider: RG, etc. It's very boring to practice aim alone.

Do you feel the overbearing aim style as the fault of the game (Quake 4), or just their individual playing styles?

In Quake 4, aim > control. In Quake 3, it isn't enough, the control factor is more important than aim.

But what about those such as the aforementioned k1ller?

That is true, but as you see he did lose to fojji in the final :). Fojji has great aim as well, but also good tactics and control.

With Quake 3 now back in the CPL and Quake 4 continued to be used by all other major event organizers, which game do you see yourself playing for the long haul? One, or both? Do you think the CPL made the right decision in choosing Quake 3?

Quake 3 is almost the perfect game for competition, I will play it alone!

With console gaming on the rise, the split of the Quake community between two games, and Quake 4's lack of GTV, how do you see the future of Quake in the general scheme of things as e-sports continues to grow?

It's a really hard question. Quake 3 is very old and they need new tournament maps, in addition to many players already being sick of the game. Quake 4 is an incomplete game and I think nothing can help it :). I think the Quake community will grow, but we will see after ut2007's release.

Any last words?

Thanks to RocketBoy, Razer team, Hacker, Valen /), Dark, Boomer, Decay, etc. Also thanks to my sponsors Razer, ASUS, and Intel for supporting me. TY Slasher for the interview :).
