GotFrag puts WSVG Louisville Quake contender Dave "icel0re" Ritson on display in this first WSVG player spotlight.

Name: Dave Ritson
Alias: icel0re
Age: 23
Location: Bowling Green, KY
Current Team: Team x3o
Favorite Game: Quake 4

Can you please tell us who you are and a little about your gaming history?

My gaming history goes back to 1997 when I started playing Duke Nukem and Quakeworld\NetQuake. I started on a Pentium 166 and 8 megs of RAM playing Quakeworld, which got me a nice 30-40fps. I gained skill fairly fast and began playing in the MNQL (Monday Night Quake League). I played with a few mid tier clans like [ra] (Red Abyss), MOP and eventually made my way to a little higher skilled clan called oZ (Outlawz). I used the name "sleepy" or "Sleepyweasel" during this time, but icel0re was born shortly after that.

What other games have you played competitively other than Quake series?

None, unless you count texas hold'em.

What has been your most memorable moment in gaming?

I have a few actually. The first would be beating fatal1ty in Quake 3 on LAN back in 2002 when MTV was filming his documentary. The most memorable online moment I have would be in 2003 when CCCP (my team) beat a very good cK team to advance to the finals of a North American online league. The most recent, which has really done alot for me was when I signed my contract with x3o, that was a really cool moment. :P

What other hobbies do you have besides gaming?

A lot of the same stuff other guys my age like. Hanging out with their friends, going out to parties, playing sports outside (when its warm or cold), or anything involving friends and going out!

...anyone who can deal with adversity, or who can deal with having their back against the wall and prevail...well...thats pretty admirable to me. - Dave Ritson

Who is your personal hero or role model and why?

I don't really think I have any big role models, I mean, I think I look to different people at different times, mainly because anyone who can deal with adversity, or who can deal with having their back against the wall and prevail...well...thats pretty admirable to me.

What is your training/practice schedule like going into the WSVG Lanwar?

Well as most people know, we're practicing here on LAN in Elizabethtown, KY. The practice schedule has been pretty steady for everyone, meaning everyone is taking breaks, eating together, etc.

Do you have any certain mental exercises you go through before a match
or big tournament like Lanwar?

I listen to music, and talk to myself, to psych myself up. I just tell myself I'm the best player in the world, and vibe to the music thats on my computer in the byoc...which mainly consists of rap and electronic.

As things are now, how do you see yourself doing at Lanwar?

Realistically, I wanna get top 16 at Lanwar, with better finishes at the rest of the LANs this summer series goes on.

Who do you think will win Lanwar?

Hmm, I think this year, it's up for grabs for a lot of people. It'll be entertaining to watch though.

Any shoutouts or special thanks you want to give?

Absolutely! Nationvoice, Velocity, and Dust-off, without them none of this would be possible!
