Quake: WSVG Louisville Quake 4 Playoffs

By: Liam Crowley - Published June 23, 2007 at 2:54 PM EDT - Writer Archive
The world's best 1v1 deatchmatch players go head to head as the WSVG Louisville Quake4 tournament heads into the playoff stages.
With the new Quake 4 1.4.2 patch in use for the first time, upsets are expected here at WSVG Louisville but the big question on everyone's lips is whether Toxic can keep on winning. Victory here would take his run of straight tournament wins to ten, an almost unimaginable feat but then again, who can stop him? The Polish prodigy Maciej "av3k" Krzykowski is one player who might just have what it takes and after the WSVG changed their age restrictions, he will get the perfect chance here in Louisville. The Serious-Gaming star impressed earlier this year at the Multiplay i-series Quake 4 event where he took first place, taking down Cooller and Stermy along the way, but has yet to beat Toxic in competition.

The usual suspects, Cooller, Fox, Forever and so on, are also here to take another shot at the Swede, but he has seen off their challenges so many times before that his biggest challenges may come from a player he does not have such a wealth of experience in facing. Although Socrates is absent, a number of North America's finest duelers have made it to the playoffs and there will be heavy pressure on the likes of Dahang, Lost-Cauze and Chance to perform on home soil.
