Ivo "forever" Lindhout sits down with GotFrag's Liam "crow" Crowley at the ESWC in Paris, France to put a few matters to rest, including recent retirement rumors. ![]() I don't know what's going to happen really. I want to keep on playing Quake 4, finish WSVG and further tournaments, after this year we will see but I'm sure I'm going to finish this year. So where did these rumors come from? Well you know, after the game Carmac asked me what I'm going to do, if I'm going to quit Quake 4, he said it something like that. I was really angry and pissed off and I said, you know, I have to see about it. I might quit Quake 4. But when you're back at your hotel room and you've got to think about the things and about the mistakes you make and the stupid things you say, I was like, I just want to finish this year and continue professional gaming. ESWC last year was a very good event for you, it really made your name in Quake 4, what were your expectations coming into this years event? Top three, definitely. I mean I shouldn't have lost to PURRI, I totally gave it away versus him, I got nothing more to say about that because, like I said, I just f***ed it up and gave it away. What went wrong for you versus PURRI, was it a case of not enough preparation, or just bad luck on the day? I don't know, I mean I raped him the first map like 30 to 2, something like that, so I mean I was feeling really confident. The game versus falcuma before also went really good, everything was pretty good. I don't really know what happened versus PURRI, on the second map I just couldn't get control so I lost that one and on the third map I was leading by three with one and a half minutes to go. I just totally gave it away, I was playing defensive and I'm not a defensive player so I don't know how to play defensive but I did play defensive and that was a big mistake from me. but I got it into overtime and I got up again by two or three frags and totally gave it away again in two or three minutes, so it was kind of crazy what was going on so I was really mad after the game. There were rumors circulating that you'd received warnings for certain incidents this weekend, can you comment on what happened with that? Well after the PURRI game, normally when I lose a game if I lose where I know I played shit or I just got owned by the other player I don't really care, well I do care but you can't do anything about it so you just say good game. Against PURRI though, like I said I totally gave it away, I've never had that before this year. I got so mad again and I had a glass bottle in my hand and I crushed it in my hand when I was trying to walk out of the tournament area because I was so angry. |
