Chance "chance" LacinaChance is another American player that has been playing consistently well in Quake 4, and is an extremely talented Quake 3 player. Over the past year, he has competed in the Winter CPL event and other random Quake 3 competitions, and has always finished well. Though he has never competed in Quakeworld or Quake 2, something tells me that he's been spending time with both games. Just like many of the other pros, Lacina has an uncanny ability to pick up a game and be able to quickly learn it. Tom "griffin" WallGriffin is one of Canada's best Quake 4 duelers, placing very well at the majority of the tournaments he attends. Having a good amount of success playing Quake 3 CPM, Wall also has a good deal experience with Quakeworld and its mechanics, which might take him far in the tournament, but it's unclear as to how much time he's spent with VQ3, the gameplay that Quakecon is using. Though he will most likely make it into bracket play, it's difficult to say how far he will get after that without knowing how he's been doing with the other games. Shane "rapha" HendrixsonRapha is another well-known Quake 3 player that has been making his way into the Quake 4 scene, already playing at an almost professional level. At the 2006 Winter CPL event, he finished well, placing 9-12th. But with almost no Quakeworld or Quake 2 experience, winning this tournament is just about out of the question for Hendrixson, though he should make it into bracket play at the very least. Garrett "KovaaK" KrutillaOne of the most well-known Quakeworld players in the world, KovaaK. He won the GGL Americup 2 Quakeworld tournament and has been a dominant force in the game for years. He knows both DM4 and Aerowalk in and out and isn't expected to lose any Quakeworld games. But he is not known to play at even a semi-professional level in the other three Quakes. He will not be able to survive on knowing one game alone, and unless he practices at an inhuman pace before the tournament, he may not break into the top 16. Alessandro "stermy" AvalloneAs for Stermy, he has been plenty busy, unfortunately not with Quake. Recently drafted in the CGS League by the OPTX Team, most of Stermy's time has gone towards practicing FIFA. It's unknown as to whether he's been able to to get much practice in with the new Quake 4 patch. Stermy got his start in competitive gaming in Quake 3, and participated in high level events such as the World Cyber Games in 2002. So that might be useful that's he's played the game competitively, but it's been about five years since he's done so. He should make it to bracket play, but it's unclear how much farther after that. Update: My mistake folks. There were two players with similar names and I was told the wrong one. Thanks to damn hippies and ceppy for helping me out with that. ZeRo4 is still attending the event, but the player I had named earlier was a different person, with virtually the same name. My mistake. In a surprise move to many, Maciej "av3k" Krzykowski has decided not to attend this year's event. Though he was a heavy favorite to win the Quake 4 competition, it was unclear how he would perform in the rest of the games. Another name missing from the event will be Anton "Cooller" Singov. I was not able to speak to him about his reason for not coming, but his name was not in the player signup list, so to the best of my knowledge, he won't be attending. John "Z0K/ZeRo4" Hill will also not be attending the event any more. Due to job related commitments, he won't be able to make the event. Page:
