After having his standout performance of the summer, Rafik "LoSt-CaUzE" Bryant took some time out of his practice schedule to talk with GotFrag about WSVG Toronto, his new team and the rest of the WSVG series. ![]() Alias: LoSt-CaUzE Age: 24 Location: Duncanville, Texas Current Organization: H20, Team LoSt-CaUzE How did you start out with competitive gaming? I heard about Fatal1ty and his win over Makaveli, and I began to watch a lot of demos. From that point on, I was hooked. What other hobbies do you have besides gaming? I actually have a degree in Computer Science, so I definitely like messing around with computers. I enjoy skateboarding, drawing, and singing; in and outside the shower :) Do you think the game has gotten better with the patches and updates? In my opinion, it's become much worse. I dislike the fact you can slide so far without making any sound. I think it allows less strategic attacks, and promotes brainless aiming. In your opinion, what needs to be improved in the game from here on out? Again, I would just like to hear more sounds; louder rail hum, shaft hum, some type of sliding sound? Whatever... Though still in it's infancy, the "American Steel" team has showed lots of potential in its players; yourself and Griffin. What are your plans for the next fews months, if you can tell us that? We have a short break right now. Then on September 7th, Griffin and I will be training with ERMAC, and perhaps Unleashed until LA. We may even stop in LA early for some training with Nomadic and Chance, but it's still up in the air. What are your plans for the future? Will you try playing Unreal Tournament 3 like so many of the other duelers? Yeah, I'll definitely play UT3. I enjoyed UT2k3/4 more then Quake 3 back in the day. I'm hoping that even though there is no dodge jumping, I will enjoy it just as much. I heard some of the players say that you were practicing non-stop since QuakeCon; What was your practice schedule like going into the tournament? Something like 4-8 hours a day, plus lots of running! I'm strange. If I have a bad day,I don't stop training; instead I train harder and harder. I think this works well for me. How did you feel going into WSVG Toronto? I felt strong going into the tournament. I had a good mindset, and a good idea of how I wanted to play each map against a variety of styles. The only players I was somewhat worried about were Griffin and ERMAC, only because we trained so much together. In all your matches, you seemed like you were a completely different player than some of the tourneys we've seen you in this summer; was there anything different you were doing that you weren't before? I think I just had a great mindset going into this tournament. Playing against both ERMAC's rockets, and Griffin's Rail + Grenades are great confidence boosters. I felt like I was ready for anything. All the hot chicks in anime and comic costumes didn't hurt my game either :) How did you like the format of this year's QuakeCon tournament? Would you like them to keep it for next year? Training all four Quakes brought back great memories for me. I really had a lot of fun playing in this particular tournament, and Quakecon is always a nostalgic experience in itself :) I would love for them to do a repeat! QUAKE WORLD FOREVER!!! Long live DON KING :) What will you be doing on your break until WSVG Los Angeles? Training, Training, Training. There anyone you want to give a shoutout to or thank anyone? I'd like to thank my management team, Team H20, Cherub1m and my two brothers from other mothers ERMAC and Griffin! I wanna thank all my boys in #q41v1 and my fans. I'll continue to train hard to show you something new; thanks for watching me! |
