Quake: Triple Threat Continues In Week 2

By: Joe Szymkowicz - Published September 02, 2007 at 10:10 PM EDT - Writer Archive
The Triple Threat Quake 3 tournament rolls on as a couple top teams face each other early on in the regular season.

After only its first week of action, the Triple Threat tournament has really started turning some heads. With some of North America's best duelers, TDM and CTF players, the tournament combines a new style of format with some established Quake 3 teams to create one of the most exciting online events to take place in a while.

This week, we'll see the much anticipated matchup between the star-studded Negative Influence team and the consistently successful team, lolz. Winning by the smallest of margins in the first week against Groove, lolz really needs to get their act together for their match with Negative Influence. Though lolz is considered one of the best CTF teams and -i is considered the front runner for TDM, each game could still be a tossup if either team slips up.

In CTF, lolz will mostly likely win due to their stacked lineup which includes bigwig, viju and foyo. Winning CTF will take some pressure off the squad as they head into what looks to be a very close TDM game. -i's advantage in TDM comes from their lineup consisting of alac, rapha, icelore. I see it coming down to a third map in iCTF, in which it could be anyones game keep an eye out tonight as this game kicks off at 10 pm EST.

Head on over to the tournament site for more information on rules, teams and schedules. You can also go to
