Quake: Burnzone Predicts Scorched Earth Round 4

By: Joe Szymkowicz - Published September 30, 2007 at 7:06 PM EDT - Writer Archive
GotFrag was able to sit down with Justin "Burnzone" Watt of Team Exile to get his predictions for the TGL Scorched Earth Tounrnament as it heads into Round 4 and actions picks up.

This week, I've enlisted the help of Team Exile's Justin "Burnzone" Watt to help me with predictions for Round 4 of TGL's Scorched Earth Enemy Territory Quake Wars competiton. Sponsored by Geek Box Computers, Team Exile has become one of the top 2 teams in North America, recently taking second in Xfire's Siege of September tournament.

Team CE

vs.

Unkind Gaming

While some recent drama between the two teams may make this match more interesting, I have to go with another blowout on this one even with team Unkind's old player DAWG, hooking CE up with all their strats, It’s just not going to be enough to topple probably the best team in North America that nobody's ever heard of. Unkind has the guns AND the armor to play with any team in NA right now. Even Dignitas, the eSports powerhouse of the tourney, would do well to recognize the talent found in Unkind.. Unkind in 3. - As a side note to this match, I realize I’m being pretty harsh on CE - but let me tell you this - of all the mid level teams right now, I think CE is the closest to breaking into the professional level of play. Are they on Unkind's level, or will they be by tonight? Me thinks not.

Burnzone's Prediction: Unkind, 3-0.

Team Dignitas

vs.

Bomb Your Enemies

I think this is a definitely one of the easier matches to predict. Dignitas in a 2 game blowout even though other European teams have begun to find chinks in the Dignitas' armor, I don’t think that the lax scrim schedule of Team BYE is going to be enough to topple the giant of the eSPORTS community that is Dignitas.

Burnzone's Prediction: Dignitas, 3-0.

GROF

vs.

DAWG

The team that rivals Dignitas in Europe, versus a team who can’t spell "dog". I’m gonna give the Greeks the nod on this one, in a 3-0 fashion. It’s going to be bad. Like, highlight reel bad. If this match were a NBA card, GROF would be the guy dunking, and DAWG would be the guy trying to draw the charge with their face in GROFS nuts. GG.

Burnzone's Prediction: GROF, 3-0.

Team HOT

vs.

Area 51

Team HOT has been on a rampage recently, and I think that this match is going to be no exception. While they will do it the whole time in a professional manner, with smiles on their cherubesque faces, Team HOT will lay down nothing short of what could be considered a hate crime on 51. Sorry guys, this one’s another easy pick.

Burnzone's Prediction: Team HOT, 3-0.

50 Calibre

vs.

Vox Lupus

50cal vs. vox, what a matchup. On one end, both teams talk an equal amount of trash and are equally unprofessional. (darklord, rowdy, thank you very much)- But on the other hand, along with being known for their loud mouths, at least 50cal is known for being good, unlike vox , who is known for being bad. 50cal in an unfortunate 2 rounds. I equate this match to watching a fight to the death involving two child molesters. It’s a lose-lose situation, but at least one of them dies with nothing. That’s really all I can say about this matchup. I’m just glad one of them is going home with nothing. Hopefully the remaining team gets eliminated next round!

Burnzone's Prediction: 50 Calibre, 3-0.

Miami Guardians

vs.

Team Central Slayers

This is going to be bad. I’m sorry. When you have a city in your name, you’re probably good. Easy win for Guardians.

Burnzone's Prediction: Guardians, 3-0.

Team Delta

vs.

Team Central Slayers

Team Delta is a Euro team. I’m giving them the nod, totally based on the fact that their flag looks intimidating. 3-0 for Delta. In addition to that, you don’t subject yourself to 5 weeks or so of cross continent pings for nothing. These guys thought they had a shot at the money before they joined, and that speaks volumes in and of itself.

Burnzone's Prediction: Team Delta, 3-0.

Team Exile

vs.

Hells Katz Squad

After watching Exile in the Finals for Siege of September against HOT, it's hard to imagine any teams other than Dignitas, HOT or 20ID putting up any kind of fight. Though Sage, one of the game's best fliers, was banned this past week from the tournament for some asinine 3-year-old PB ban, I still don't see HKS being able to topple the North American monster.

nineX's Prediction: Exile, 3-0.

Additionally, Justin wants to thank Geekbox Computers and Mushkin for their continued support for the team, and also the rest of Team Exile for their hard work and practice.
