From Armor Regeneration to the Doubler and Invulnerability, pick-ups and power-ups are what give Quake that extra level of strategy that makes every game such an intense battle. ![]() For those who'd rather get to the point and go frag rather than wading through an in-depth analysis of advanced gameplay (don't worry, we'll still have those too), than the Guide to Quake Live is for you. In this installment we take a look at the various items and and power-ups littering the arenas of Quake Live. Your aim will only get you so far in this game so knowledge of why and how to use these are essential to improving your game. ContentsGetting Started - Step-by-step Guide Weapons and Armor Pick-ups and Power-ups The Basics![]() Green Health This will increase your health by 5 health points. Once your health points are higher than the base health this will decrease back to 100. ![]() Yellow Health This gives you 25 health points for a max of 100 health points. ![]() Gold Health This bubble grants you 50 health instantly. ![]() Megahealth This power-up gives you 100 health points for a max of 200 health points. Once picked up, the Mega Health decreases 1 health point per second until you are back to your base health. Respawns every 35 seconds, on some maps the respawn time is every two minutes. ![]() Quad-Damage When you get this power up, every weapon's damage is multiplied by 3 for a duration of 30 seconds. Respawns after 2 minutes. ![]() Regeneration When you receive damage, this will regenerate your health points for a maximum of 200 health points. The lower your health is, the higher the rate of increase is. Team Power-Ups![]() Armor Regeneration This power-up will regenerate your armor at 10 armor per second until full. ![]() Scout Beneficial in multiple ways, the Scout power-up grants the player double speed when moving and firing as well as silent footsteps and invulnerability to damage from their own weapon. ![]() Guard Requires the opponent to do 1.5x more damage to yourself to result in the same amount of health/armor lost. ![]() Doubler This increases the amount of damage you can inflict on your opponent by 1.5x. Carried Items![]() Invulnerability When used, the Invulnerability power-up will freeze the player wherever they are, on the ground or in the air. While suspended, they are surrounded by a nearly impenetrable purple shield. They can still turn and fire at enemies. ![]() Kamikaze A suicide power-up that when activated, detonates the player and creates a powerful explosion that can frag anyone in a very large area. A player with this power-up will be seen with skulls circling their avatar. ![]() Medkit A restorative power-up, the Medkit will instantly boost the players health to a maximum of 125. After being picked up, the Medkit respawns in sixty seconds.
