i started some interest in watching pro starcraft, stopped playing the game in early 2000, wondering if anybody could link me how to download/get a crack for starcraft and how to view demos, since SC2 is coming out, this game genre will actually start to show some life.
a wise man once said "Canadian is a disease that cannot be cured with modern medicine."
Memorizing the units' hotkeys will help A LOT compared to clicking on the unit graphic on the interface. Which is why you see so many players having their left hand on the keyboard and their right on the mouse. The way they move their left hand looks like they're typing, but they are of course clicking on the hotkeys and unit groupings.
Someone still needs to say how to play demos. I've read how to do it but no luck so far, does game version matter? Do i need to change the format or what?
for replays you put them in /starcraft/replays folder i'm pretty sure...could be /starcraft/downloads/replays though
and you can watch them on b.net with others if you wish. that's always fun^^
you really do need to learn to play with pretty much just your keyboard and use your mouse for micromanaging your units...hotkey everything and you can even hotkey screen spots (ctrl+f1 iirc) for quickly getting back to your base(s) if you've used up all your 10 hotkeys for unit groups
and don't play money maps, stick to lost temple i'd say first if you actually want to be able to follow and understand what a pro is doing~
