Recently, the Korean E-Sports Organization held their biannual draft to see which amateurs will be chosen to play on the professional gaming circuit. Unlike a professional football or basketball draft that is drafted from a university, these players drafted to the professional gaming circuit may have only played Starcraft as a hobby. Now, they will no longer be playing in their parent’s home, but in a fully furnished home living with around twenty roommates who hold the same profession as you. Some teams decided to take advantage of the opportunity to draft up to five more players to their roster while a handful of others only added one or two new players. The three teams KTF MagicNS, CJ Entus, and Samsung Khan chose to make use of this draft by each adding five more players to the roster. One reason behind them doing this is the fact that several of their current players are approaching retirement and fulfilling their mandatory military duties. Surprisingly, the newly sponsored WeMade team formerly known as Pantech EX added only one gamer to their ranks. Both MBC Hero and Lecaf OZ made a similar decision by only choosing to draft two players. Most of these players will make up what is called the new generation of Starcraft elites. Perhaps in this draft, a new future star has been chosen who could very well become the next greatest player in the world. Only time will tell as professional gaming in South Korea continues to grow.
