Sufficient Video Card??

I have an EVGA 7900GS, 3GB of RAM @ 667mhz, and E6400 @ 2.13ghz, and I'm using Vista: Business Edition.

Will I be able to maintain 100 FPS in Team Fortress 2? I've heard its less demanding than Source, and I can get 100+ in that just fine, usually.

After awhile on HL2-engine games, my FPS will stick at 10, or just stay really low. I'm not sure why.

tf2 is more demanding than source. but it's mostly cpu so any 7k-9k series nvidia card should be alright with a dual core.

My old system had a 7800 GTX w/ 1GB of ram and an AMD 2.5 gig processor...rarely ever dropped under 60 fps unless i was on a 32 man server. Usually averaged 80ish fps...i played at 1650x1080 with all high settings but no AA and trillinear filtering. There is no difference to the eye from 72fps and above. There are many cards from the 7800 series and up that will be able to do this for you, just depends on what your budget is.

Best bang for the buck however is still the 8800GT...that handles most next generation games at almost full detail. With a good dual/quad processor and at least 2 gb of ram, you'll be set for a good while.

8800gt wont yield any better fps than a 7900gs.
source engine is all cpu.
if your videocard is good to the point that it can handle the shaders, ect..., then upgrading wont improve your fps at all.

Dropping Vista for XP would do a lot more for you than a new GPU.
