Hopefully more clans will spring up now, more competition and more prize leagues. Don't really care too much about it being CGS, but if TF2 is a 'pro' game, more pro wanna be kiddies will start playing + other teams from other games might convert. I'm looking forward to TF2 in the future =]
Lets hope it draws attention to the game and spawns a lot of new clans, giving the competitive scene a much needed boost. I know that this is probably me being very idealistic, but one can hope :/
I could care less about CGS as well, but if more teams pop up to play, good. I know some people are going to go nuts (mainly the teams that have players without jobs...) over the possibility of winning MORE THAN $50,000 IN CASH & PRIZES, which I guess is cool.
Like #5 said, this is probably idealistic, but oh well. More teams, yay LAN, yay
DUMMY! If dummy join Pand again this is going to be sick.
Come on people find teams to play with join the league hte more people the better. Who knows maybe TF2 gets added as an official game!
On that note if anyone is looking for a player hit me up I might be available since my team apparently disbanded.
And btw people saying CGS will add CoD4 is just a rumor. CoD4 has several spectating and costumizing hold backs, lets see if CGS wants to try what the MLG (probably the most succesful league outside of Korea) decided not to.
#15 That's up for them to decide, but I agree that they shouldn't play the game for money. They should play it because they enjoy the game, or the community, or the thrill of blowing 5 people up on a check point.
If you've got the skill, the time, and the team than play and win the money.
I found that playing for money wasn't enough, although it may be for some. The competition is what always kept me focused on the game.
If you look at CS:S, the game is starting to get old now. Dated. Sooner or later, the CGS is gonna replace it with a newer shooter. I dunno how many years from now that'll be, but assuming the CGS is in it for the long-haul, it'll surely happen at some point.
And so then here we have TF2... also a Valve product, on the Source engine. And thus just as much in line with Valve's business agenda as CS:S was, when it was chosen to be the team shooter for the CGS. Even more so, perhaps -- it's a newer game and shows off the Source engine better than CS:S does.
And when you think about it, doesn't it seem like a game like TF2 would be perfect for the CGS? It's a fairly fresh hot property as far as multiplayer shooters go, very accessible to casual gamers (and specifically designed to be that way), and yet still a game that can be played at a professional competitive level. What's more, TF2 is perfect for television, more so than CS or CoD4... but now before you object, let me explain. TF2 features all the typical violence of first-person-shooters, and yet the violence is stylized in a cartoony, whimsical, and humorous fashion that helps ease the angst that first-person-shooters otherwise typically prompt from anti-gaming activists, politicians, censors, etc. On the other hand, shooters like CoD4 and CS give people like Jack Thompson plenty of ammunition to use, due to those games' "realistic" portrayal of violence.
So when you consider all this, it's easy to speculate that with this new online league hosted by the CGS, perhaps TF2 is being groomed for the future.
But anyway... leaping speculation aside, at the very least we can expect this CGS online league to boost competitive TF2, especially in North America. It's also likely that Valve will start paying a bit more attention to the competitive aspect of TF2; if there really is some substance to my speculation, then doing so would be entirely within Valve's business interests.
That's because even WoW players don't like to watch competitive WoW.
And when did the CGS ever organize an online league for WoW anyway? I don't remember anything like that ever happening. Are you sure you're not thinking of MLG or the late WSVG?
I'm looking for a team who is considering this event. I played with Legacy who were CEVO-A champs, ending with a record of 28-2. Find me #thelegacy or #itsamassacre.

Come on guys you shouldn't be playing this game for money, that's just stupid.

the main thing is that a big organization picking the game up - therefore making the competition much better.
the game never got old for me, just the competition
