TF2 Lags

Yeah, getting like 240-20 fps.

Intel c2d E6300 1.86 ghz @ 3.0ghz

xfx 9600gt xxx

750iftw

2gb's of ram 800 mhz

There was a thread recently about fps drops and it had a couple nice tweaks to get better framerate. Look that thread up for the commands and tips.

biggest change you can do is change to directx 8.1

that's pretty much my setup and I get 120 constant in 6v6 play.

Why should I have to play in dx8?

I pass their recommended settings with flying colors.

I have a similar system (e6400, 3gbs DDR2800, 7900GTO) and used to be able to play the game in max setting at around 40 fps. After a few updates it became unplayable so I switched to an FPS config (using DX8) that gives me ~100 fps without using dual core mode. The downside is the game looks terrible and recently I have been getting random FPS drops that don't seem to coincide with battles or anything in particular... although this could be spyware related.

I'd say switch to DX8 and pray they bring the L4D engine changes over (dual core support) soon.

TF2 looks like ass in dx8 lol.

For some reason I get better frames if I actually attempt to get quality over performance (I has a 8800GT) , so see if it works for you.

I run everything at max with 16xAA and max AF.

You really don't need max AA and AF, try 2, I doubt you'll notice a visual difference.

I do notice a difference between 2 and 16.

But my fps doesn't budge if I turn it off or leave it on.
