There seems to be a great deal of confusion/delirium regarding the recruitment forum in regards to skill level.
Perhaps these levels can help poster not get fragged out of existence when looking for a team by figuring out what level they belong to.
Low: Pubstar. I airshot/headshot/meatshot/sticky/uber people in pubs like a champ. I've very little 6v6 experience. I've pugged a couple of times. I'm looking to get involved in the competitive side of this game. I've thought about reading waar's competitive guide/Competitive tf2 wiki. I've low dm/strategy skills and the situational awareness of a dead moose. I think w00t's frag movies are f'ing awesome.
Low/Mid: I pug/gather. I have a low understanding of tactics/dm strategy in this game. I understand that calling/comms are important, but I do that wrong. I've been on a team that played 2 matches and broke up because we got rolled. I read waar's competitive guide/Comp tf2 wiki but didn't understand all of it. I read gotfrag. I possess the situational awareness of a cataract patient. I think frozenshifts frag movies are amazing. I wonder why notor is gay. I would like to get on a TWL/STA level team and improve.
Mid/Low: I've been on a 6v6 team for a season. I understand calling/comms are important and do so well. I read gotfrag a lot. I watch matches and demos, but do so for pretty airshots and amazing runs and don't think about why such things happen. I completely agree with Leogeo when I listen to pwnage.tv about when teams aren't pushing. My team is active in TWL/STA and we do alright and we're looking to get into CEVO-Free but we still get rolled by the tops teams and don't understand why. I ammomod a lot, so I think I've got some DM skills, but I'm overestimating them. I think I understand strategy/push elements of this game but I'm just fooling myself. I've the situational awarness of a sloth. I've read waar's competitive tf2 guide and think it's the best thing since sliced bread. I love bloodsires movies, and think he'd be better utilized as a pyro.
Mid: I've been on a 6v6 team for a season or two. We're a top level TWL team, possibly better than cbear's. I communicate very well, and can even call a focus fire or an area fire or even a specific target. I have good damage estimation skills, and my situation awareness is that of a 12 year old ADD kid. We can take rounds off of top CEVO-Free teams, but still don't roll over the other teams in top competition for TWL. I think reptile's frag movie is awesome and anytime I see carnage/other pro in a server I reach for kneepads and a breath mint. I ammomod a fair amount so I understand that strafing in the air is important and jumping mindlessly isn't the best. I've read waar's strategy guide, and really, who's this whizz guy ? I watch a lot of demo's but only of those classes that I'll never play, because really, who wants to medic ? I hope to land on a team full of players that can carry me, or maybe I'll start my own team and surround myself with better players so I don't look inept. I get the fact that 'notor's gay' is an in joke. I still don't get why though.
Mid/High: Top level CEVO-Free team. Been active for many seasons. The top teams know who I am and can vouch for my skill. I 12man with a lot of good players. I know what I'm doing, can communicate very effectively to my team. I'm skilled in the DM/Strategy/Movement aspects of this game. I rarely pub/gather because they make me facepalm. I frequently watch demos/matches and try to improve by picking out small nuances in other players movements/positioning. I read gotfrag and try not to laugh/drink myself into a stupor. Scrim often. Play on a lot of pug teams in lower leagues. Think Get Quaked 3 is an amazing frag movie. Was recently removed from ruffian's friend list. Read cbears preds and facepalm about the comments. Think notors gay. Read waar's comp guide, think it could be improved but I don't want to actually waste time trying to write something.
High: Don't need to post anything other than "Need a team" because your reputation preceeds you. If you do end up posting anything, you're probably lying.
There are a lot of people who play that lack the mechanical skills to be considered mid/high but have the proper "game sense" for it. Some people play well just because they put themselves in the right place at the right time... IE Medics.
I think your idea of "mid" should be "low" and your "low" should me "low-", like the Euro system. most people aren't mid, most people are low. I'd set mid=top cevo-free, high=the 5 or so teams in ESEA-i
#5 and #15 have it, but it is not just medics. Doesn't really apply to soldiers very well, nor does it demos, but scouts can be the trickiest thing to deal with/kill if played right.
Take people like saber07 and enigma. I personally don't think they're DMing is anything special, but they annoy the hell outta people damn near every time they encounter them, are hard as hell to kill at times, and just are very witty without trying. Some people have it, some don't and make up for it by being killing machines.
Either way, great post jk-, and it will always be hard to judge skill in TF2, just because there are so many immense factors to it. However, this post helps!
if you're recruiting why would you even bother reading what skill someone ranked themselves in a forum post? that's always going to be subjective and inflated, just check their experience and see how they play firsthand
You just put up a peice of content that was not nuetral. You fell right into the hands of EG
haha #14. They all should join up and create a clan called something like "Delusion". They usually believe that they're really good. Take sake for example, he's the only player I know that would brag about airblasting someone twice in the air.
#41, Insomnia is a common symptom often misdiagnosed as an anxiety or stress problem when it's really your inability to correctly categorize TF2 players. This guide is a sleep saver!
I think gotfrag should adopt etf2l's recruiting forums setup. Here is an example of what their thread topics look like for a player looking for a team.

it doesn't replace trying people out. it also doesn't weed out the people that are lows that claim they are mids. But it can cut down on time wasted reading posts that aren't remotely what you are looking for.

ps. its a cat
NOW
Thank god for the Medic class.
playing other games in CAL does not mean you know how a tf2 team works
Like updating the strategy guide/wiki, I just can't be bothered to write more.

Stop bothering me and get off my lawn.
Sticky material for sure. Go Go Go!
