Quantums Little Config v2.0 This Config is the following version of "Quantums Little Config v1.0", which was a very huge success for me. It was downloaded until now more then 5000 times and the TF2 Config Articles has more than 20.000 visit. Because of this great feedback I tried to push my config to the next Level and I think I have done it. But suit yourself and get an opinion.
Quantums Little Config FPS v2.0 - UltraHighFPS - HighFPS - HighQuality - Public Play Menu - Competitve Play Menu (for rcon-user) - Ram Optimization for 512,1024,2048,3072,4096 MB - Basic Networksettings and Sound Config - Commented files for easy selfedit - For the Lazy one an (Un)Installer
Quantums Little Config Movie v2.0 - Editing Mode + Recording Mode - SourceEngine Tweaks which will interessting to make movies - Movie Menu and the matching Binds - For the Lazy one an (Un)Installer[/list]
Update: I stopped crashing when I deactivate the directx settings, but it leaves me with these terrible character models. I guess I'm going to just have to suck it up and deal with those, but I'm thoroughly loving the 200 fps that I've never seen before.
Nope sry. I only know some have it some not. At the moment saddly the part is growing who has some probs with the DirectX. Just dont use it would be my fix.
For me personally my TF2 crashes after 5s after connect when the CacheSetting are loaded and a DirectX mode is activated in the cfg.
The Problem is that i hoped it would work for the most of the players. I had an easy access for the newbies in mind. But it seems that i have to rethink it :/
I will fiddle a bit around mabye i can place the command at the bottom and get it to work ;)
I have an FPS config currently but it's not perfect, I was hoping someone could answer a couple questions about this one before I install it. I'm interested in the high-fps version.
1. Do ubers "blink" as they're wearing off? 2. Do the lights flash on Well to indicate a train coming? 3. Can you see the signs on the trains on Badlands mid? 4. Can you see the railings on last of Well?
#8 1. No, if you use DirectX < 9.0. I use 9.5 and they blink. 2. Yes 3. No for this you have to set the mat_picmip to a lesser values. If less doesn´t work try higher. I maybe mixed thing up here. 4. No, for this you need to set r_rootlod "1" or less
#10 I dont know, i dont use DX 8.1. My guess since you have more FPS it helps. Maybe someone else can help ?
for the movie config, create an enable motion blur option. And in recording mode, my demo just auto fast forward, how do I stop that? Also the menu still appears after I took out the autoexec option.
Try ?F2? or ?F3? it changes the demospeed over the cvars.
I binded it as toogle Cvars. this means you can increase speed or reduce separately. You have to reach the default value. To Deactivate the menu you have to execute the *.bat in Quantum.Movie.cfg/Menu or delete ../tf/resource/GameMenu.res
#15 A Quote from the FAQ, i think this can help you. If i activate the DirectX Option my Game will crash. Use the Launchoption -dxlevel (Details) instead of the Settings in the MainConfig.cfg.
im sure i'm one of the handful of people that has 3gb of ram instead of 2 or 4...
just so you know the "QLC_RAM_3072" is not aliased in "QLC_ALIAS", although SourceEngine_Cache_3072 itself exists. it threw an error at me and i didnt notice any different in performance, but yeah just add that alias line in for those too lazy or dont know how to script anything ;)
#18 Thx for that info :) The line to add in the "../tf/cfg/Quantum.cfg/HelperCfg/QLC_... is: alias "QLC_RAM_3072" "exec Quantum.cfg\SourceEngine_Cache\SourceEngi...
#21 I will think about it, since i want to fix the 3GB with an update
#25 You can use it, but i got the feedback that mostly these options enabled cause (serious) Probs. I personally don´t get any noticeable fps out off it, so i turned it off to make the config more stable. But if you get any FPS boost with it use it :)
#31 Option 1: Use the "M" InGame (Default button) Option 2: Use the new added Quickswitchoption Option 3: Delete the menu ../tf/cfg/Quantum.cfg/Menu -> execute the *.bat ^_^
I did a comparison on a spammy corner of Dustbowl stage 3. Here are the timedemo results done 3 times each (Nothing different. UltraHighFPS cfg vs m0re CFG, no changes made to either cfg)
Released an update. QLC FPS v2.1 based on your Feedback :) -> New GraphicSetting: "Standard" <-> HighQuality(new) <-> UltraHighQuality(old HighQuality) -> Bugfix: 3072MB Ram-Setting now works. -> Bugfix: Taking Screenshots with F5 work now (typo :/)
it's sort of mixed in with all my clips i recorded previously but i'll make a thread on gotfrag about it later, it's really easy to tell which times i used your config
#41 Yes 4GB is perfect, btw i dont think TF2 will use more then 4GB anyhow ;) As i wrote in the MainConfig.cfg: Generally you can use any RAM-Setting that is smaller then RAM-Amount or matches it.
#42 Just add this to the Quantum.cfg/HelperCfg/QLC_Alias.cfg and it should work. alias QLC_EnableNormalUber "r_worldlights 4; r_maxdlights 32"
#43 As far as i know this command is ment to cover the IP Fragmentation of Packets. The Value behind the Cvars should be the ?byte/s amount? (like the rate command) which will stored in a buffer to reassamble the fragmentet packets.
You should set this to a high Value on the server, if you know that on the route to the server the packet will be fragmented otherwise it should be useless. You can check that with Wireshark on the server _and_ client. The route from client -> server can differ from the route server -> client, keep that in mind. The CVars command has to be set by the endpoint of the route to take effect. Since i dont think that this CVars will cost much performance/memory, you should set it to a higher value then default on a server. This will help players who are really unlucky or messed around with there networksettings in the OS.
Please keep in mind that my description could be wrong, i didn't check out if my guesses are correct.
Just wondering, Is there an advantage to downloading this for people who have no problems running the game?
I never got into the whole FPS configs because I already run constant 100s (set limit) at max settings @1440x900. I already have .cfg settings for stuff like interp, always play with netgraph on, and have all the shortcut -novid, etc commands that seem to be the norm. I just hear people talking about it but it doesn't really make sense to mess around with my settings unless there's some noticeable advantage that I'm not aware of.
i think the high-quality config is supposed to make everything look prettier than the normal full settings. imo the change in the menus that was added with this is useful and somewhat better than the normal hud, i like being able to just select my favorite servers from it.

Disable to dx settings in the config but add -dxlevel 81 to the launch options and it works perfectly.
As you can see in contrast from my previous screenshot, the fps took a hit, but it's still higher than I've ever had before.

very nice config
no problems for me
edit for those that run other configs(comp config etc)
it clears your autoexec and just has the one line
exec competitive/competitive.cfg
exec Quantum.cfg/MainConfig
that is the entirety of my autoexec.cfg while running the comp cfg and quantums.
150+ fps constantly, i have not seen it drop below that
most times it's between 250-400

amazing config as always
cl_threaded_bone_setup "0"
cl_threaded_client_leaf_system "1"

r_threaded_renderables "1"
r_threaded_client_shadow_manager "1"
r_queued_decals "0"

bind "F5" "jpeg_quality 95;jpg"
Does the -dxlevel (mention in the FAQ -> Downloadpage) help you with this prob ?
what did I just watch..........

Unknown command “QLC_EnableNormalUber”
Alias file does not include this alias. You forgot to add it in the new version ^^

even though i have a decent videocard i use an fps config just so i can have over 100 fps even in clusterfuck battles (especially mid)
