Phillies in 5 or 6.. Phillies are better than them at every position except 3rd base, although maybe if Feliz started taking roids this matchup would be a little more even..
with Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, Cole Hamels and Cliff Lee I have no doubt in my mind that the Phillies are going to beat the Yankees, in 5. yes i'm a Redsox fan
The Phillies lineup is good because pitching overall in the National League is god awful... I fully expect both CC and A.J. to tear them up in the first two games, then win it out in 5.
well the phillies are legit, after picking up lee and pedro they were probably easily the second best team in baseball, and better than they were last year
Phillies lineup is solid, well balanced, but Utley needs to get on board, Hamels needs to get his head out of his ***, Feliz needs to start FULLY SWINGING rather than half swinging the bat into double plays, and Dobbs and Cairo need to stop being HORRIBLE.
The highs for the Phillies are way high but the lows are a nightmare.
I tip my hat to any entity that could bring so much integrity to evil.
#20 lol CC = Lee (both have been great this postseason, Lee has a .73 era, CC has a 1.19 era)
after those two you don't know what you're going to get out of any of the starters
Hamels has been bad, but who knows if the former World Series MVP will come back to form? Burnett.. hasn't been impressive.
The Yankees obviously have the advantage with closers with Mo being (one of) the best postseason pitcher ever but Lidge has looked good this postseason after struggling all season.
Now for the lineup..
Howard > Tex.. Tex has what, 3 hits? Utley > Cano Rollins < Jeter.. Jeter has been better this season with Rollins putting up very good 2nd half numbers and Rollins is clutch as hell. Feliz < Arod Ibanez > Damon Victorino > Melky Werth > Swisher? Matsui? whoever is out there, doesn't matter. Ruiz > Posada? Molina?
As I said before, Phillies in 5 or 6
edit: woops, I didn't mean to give Feliz the advantage, Arod is almost as good as Howard this postseason.
#26 My bad on doing Feliz > Arod, I obviously meant to give Arod the nod, he's been great, but Swisher? That has to be a joke. Swisher is barely cracking .100
also....Rivera only one of the best closers? Try, the best, of all time, ever...forever. No one else compares, he is a robot. If you want to talk post season, he has more than double the saves of the next highest. If it gets to Mo, the Phillies dont have a chance.
In fact, the only chance the phillies have is to beat up on AJ Burnet, and then try and beat up on the Yankee bullpen. Try, being the key word. The Yankees have beat them 5 out of the 7 times they met this season. The Yankees are just a better team.
Sure you got Lee on the mound game 1, but this isnt the NL anymore. He is an AL picther, the Yankees have seen him before, and no pitcher on the Phillies has seen a lineup quite like the Yankees.
While the Yankees have yet to see an offense like the phillies, they have seen far better than what the phillies have seen over in the NL. Also the Phillies lineup is trouble from 1-6. The Yankees lineup is trouble from 1-9.
I put one of in parentheses because EVERYTHING is debatable, but I agree with you that Mo is the best closer ever.
The Phillies beat up on CC last year in the playoffs so I don't think you can assume that he will run over the Phillies lineup since they are even better this year than last year.
The Phillies and Yankees have only played 3 times this season so if you could show me how and where the Yankees beat the Phillies 5 out of 7 times please do. The Phillies took two out of three at Yankee stadium this year (should have been 3 but Lidge blew a save) going against CC, AJ and Pettite.
Cliff Lee went 22-3 with a 2.53 era last year... hes proven he can dominate the AL so I don't see what you are trying to say about him. And his ERA actually increased since joining the Phils so he has done better against the AL..
When looking at stats and just knowing the Phillies lineup, I feel that the Phillies are better overall. The Phillies have their second best hitter in the postseason batting 8th so there's trouble throughout that order.
CC got beat up last year but thats because he was being pushed on 3 days rest over and over towards the end of the regular season and during the post season. The Yankees have rested CC tremendously, not pushing him at all. He is a different pitcher this year. Well rested, and, oh yeah, he has the Yankee offense behind him this time.
also, the Yankees cant really lose games at Yankee Stadium. They try to, but then the stadium dishes out game tying/winning HR's. That would apply to the phillies also, but yanks bat last, and arent trying to hit one off Mo.
Yanks in 6 or 7. If Hamels and Utley start playing like they normally do we might have a problem, but if Swish can start batting like he did in the regular season, and the rest of our guys stay hot, I think we should be fine.
Cliff Lee and CC are both very good, so that should be even, AJ is kinda iffy, but if he doesn't give up a bad inning I think we'll survive with a win, and Andy is pretty solid. Hopefully out bullpen gets back into form so we don't have to use Mo for another 6 out save or anything.
Yankees have to be favored, your being an irrational fan if you think otherwise. Phillies need Hamels and Lidge to be as good as last year if they want to have a chance. Only way I see the Phillies winning this is if Burnett has a meltdown. Also would certainly help them if Girardi makes a couple moronic decisions for them.
#34 i agree... teh phillies are good but they are NOT beating teh yankees. CC was abused last year in teh playoffs...hes a Yankee now... NOT teh same team. Yankees can't lose at home... There omly chance is vs Burnnet other than that they got no chance. Once it gets to Mariano its a wrap (reynold's...lol) there is no way they can win, I HATE to say it but hes teh best closer EVER! No one can come close nor will any one ever... Yankees in 5 or 6.
QUOTE:also, the Yankees cant really lose games at Yankee Stadium. They try to, but then the stadium dishes out game tying/winning HR's. That would apply to the phillies also, but yanks bat last, and arent trying to hit one off Mo.
The Phillies were the best road team in baseball this year and Mo is great but it's not like hes unhittable. He has the potential to blow saves just like everyone else.
(and that Yankee offense really helped CC in the regular season where he pitched 8 innings of 3 run ball and still lost)
Phillies might beat up on the baddies in the pvssy league, but the Yankees are the real deal. Who the fvck is in the Dodger's starting rotation? Hell if I know. The only legit hitter they have is Ramirez.
Phillies pitching is nowhere near as good as the Angels. If Yankees pitching can keep the bats in check (which I know they will), Tex, Rod, Jet, & the crew will take home #27.
phillies hitters look much better than they are because national league hasn't had impressive pitching in the last few years yankees are much more stacked offensively, i honestly think it'll go 7
#40 after watching the complete meltdown of the Angels bullpen in Games 5 and 6, I can only consider that you're trolling by saying the Phillies bullpen isn't as good as the Angels.

how about baseball is the shittiest sport on earth. GO WATCH SUM FOOTBALL OR HOCKEY sum rough stuff not the non contact OTHER WORD FOR CAT THAT STARTS WITH P sports.

Also, logically, I think the Phillies got it in 6

Yankees in 6, just feels like their year.

"Yankees: .reportffw"
yankees in 4.
I honestly think it will go to 7, both teams have their advantages. Besides the yankees having a shat load of money.
But seriously, if utley and hamels start you know actually playing baseball, this should go to 7 and honestly I think either team could win this one.
