I'm actually not sure what to say, considering most of what I have to say is already covered in the Youtube videos (I make lots of video updates on day 2).
But basically, the event and tournament was definitely a success. Unfortunately, a few teams (who were even prepaid) bailed at the last second because some of their teammates had something come up. That's unfortunate and such, but everything still worked out perfectly.
6 teams showed up, but these were all at least 6 teams consisting of mid-level skill players. No team did not win a match, so the entire group-play/tournament was actually really close/intense.
The matches, again, were really intense and cool to watch. I'd say the most ridiculous thing that happened is Bandstand vs. eSport Pros on Badlands (in the losers bracket). It was 2-2, a very close game the entire match, and time was running out. Pros captured Bandstand's 2nd point with about a minute left, and while Wicked suicided on their medic (and did indeed kill their medic), Pros actually marched in and capped Bandstand's last point with only seconds left on the clock. Bandstand was obviously stunned. However, it was one of the closest matches of the tournament, if not, THE closest match of the tournament.
Fantasy Gayland vs Loaded in the upper bracket finals on badlands. Loaded did 5-0 them, but the match was way closer than the score says. FG gave them a very hard time, and while Loaded didn't make many mistakes, the match really could have been different either way.
Fantasy gayland vs epdmc in the lower bracket finals on freight. Again, this was another back and forth match that could have potentially went either way. Sequel did very good on this map, doing a pretty good number on epdmc. The match was a bit slow, but the score eventually ended 3-1.
The grand finals were on cp_granary between Fantasy Gayland and Loaded. I knew this match was going to be much closer, and indeed it was. Loaded took the first round without much trouble, but Fantasy Gayland came right back and took the second round after a bit of time. Eventually, the match became 2-2, still ridiculously close. Fantasy Gayland backcapped Loaded's 2nd point, as a scout started heading for the last point. Justin killed the one scout, but FG's other scout started capping the last point. The point was only milliseconds from being capped, but justin stayed on the point the entire time, killed the scout with a very clutch play, and possibly saved the match for Loaded right there. Eventually, Loaded pushed FG back all the way to their last point and won the round. At this point, FG had about 4 or 5 minutes to tie it up, but Loaded kept them on their toes the entire time, and FG couldn't pull it out. They eventually collapsed and Loaded took the round to ensure the victory.
Overall, everyone loved the event. I already have people that expressed that they really want to go to the next one, both people who went to this one, and those who didn't. All I know is that if this one was as good as it was, the next one is going to be even better :D! Thanks SO MUCH for everyone who came out. Meeting everyone was really awesome, and it was simply just too amazing.
