In recent light of MW2's massive failure, I've decided to move away from COD competition.
I really never gave this game a chance for competition until recently, and have pubbed the game quite a bit and have found the game is quite excellent for team play.
I've started reading and watching demos about competition, now I'd like to get involved with the TF2 NA community.
Is there any NA community forums? Or is this It? IRC channels are #tf2scrim/ring/etc correct?
Thanks for the help.
tl;dr - community links and help would be greatly appreciated, ty.
This is the main forum that NA competitive tf2 players use.
IRC: #tf2scrim, #tf2.pug.na (and Cinq is making a new channel #tf2.pug for new players to comp) If you want to ring, just post it in tf2scrim, as nobody uses the official ring channel.
Enjoy! Also, considering you're somewhat new to competitive tf2. I'd suggest you go to #tf2mentor if you have quick questions or... http://commforums.com/mentor-mentee-appli.. post there to pick up a mentor who will show you the ropes.
Unfortunately the size of the community means that this is about it for forums. Another good place to look though are the CommunityFT forums, patrolled a little more frequently.
Channels to check out are #tf2scrim, #tf2ringer, and #tf2.pug.na as well as #tf2pug
Best advice I can give you is this: Don't take GotFrag seriously at all. Literally 50% of the accounts on here are angry people trying to troll the TF2 community, despite being players in it. Another 25% are trolls, but ones that are occasionally funny. Remaining 25% are actual player accounts, but a full 75% of those are d-bags. The rest are awesome though, how little that number may actually be.
Hopefully what happens is you pub a bit, and pug a bit, until you find a group of players you're really comfortable with and click with. That makes it infinitely easier to ignore most of the terrible attitudes in the game.
If people bitch at you for being new and not knowing what you're doing in pugs, just talk shit back to them because most likely they're bad and you'll be better than them in no time.
I saw a guy get less than 5 kills as scout 2 pugs in a row, and I heard him getting bitched at 2 pugs in a row and he even admitted he didn't know what he was doing yet everyone still just ignored him. I just told him the basic strats, like how he should stick with the team and know when to fall back/attack, and he got 18 kills the next pug.

I somewhat expected a trollfest in the thread.
Thanks.
