There are tons of new teams looking for people, even within the GF sections, the best advice for a new looker is not to just have your steam ID out there for those looking to add; but to also add them and ask if you can ring for them one night.
Also- as #2 said, tf2 pugs are the way to go. If anyone is an ass on there, just ignore them, ask for help from someone that seems to be helping you learn.
Solid Soldier. He doesn't have much competitive TF2 experience at all but he seems responsive to feedback, tips, etc. Definitely a good player for a low team to pick up and work with.
