Team Fortress 2: CEVO Playoffs Round 3 Predictions

By: Michael Clark - Published November 19, 2007 at 6:33 PM EST - Writer Archive
After going 100% on his last week, Michael "Gashuffer" Clark is back to give you his picks for Round 3 of CEVO TF2 Playoffs.

After predicting 100% of last week's CEVO TF2 matches, Michael "Gashuffer" Clark is back to give his opinion on a tougher and much more competitive field, as the tournament nears Grand Finals, and the coveted First Place prize. Will the return of wombat to the doctors mean victory for the doctors? Will the Midnight Tokers be able to stay on their underdog road to glory or will Experiment put up a roadblock in their way? I guess you'll have to stay tuned to find out.

[1] Comedy Option - (8-0-0)

vs.

[8] Adrenaline Gamer - (9-0-0)

With a devastating one-sided victory over highly regarded Jailbait, the clowns demonstrated once again that they belong in the upper echelon of the Team Fortress 2 competitive community.  However, aG is no lay-down toddler, and will prove to be a much more difficult opponent to lure with promises of scrumptious candy and delicious, oh so delicious drugs.  Ultimately, this match will be decided by the performance of each clan's soldiers, who are some of the best in the game.  While it could go either way, when the smoke clears, and 2fort is in ruins, Comedy Option will once again be declared the winner, with a few more bodies to bury beneath their already corpse-littered house.

Gashuffer's Prediction: C-Opt, 2-1.

[5] Saget in Tights - (9-0-0)

vs.

[20] 407 Death Clan - (9-0-0)

Everyone's favorite Special Olympics farm team returns to the CEVO playoffs to gimply battle Saget in Tights.  Of the remaining teams, 407 has had the easiest schedule, defeating less than stellar competition in very unconvincing fashion. SIT, on the other hand, is coming off a dominant performance over MugNMouse - a clan that my nemesis, CEVO|Clay, ignorantly predicted would prevail.  Listen as the normally joyous shrieks of the mentally handicapped become agonizing screams, when the performance-enhancing hugs 407 received prior to the match dissipate in a torrent of down-syndromian tears.

Gashuffer's Prediction: SIT, 2-0.

[19] Tap Dat Ass - (9-0-0)

vs.

[6] the doctors - (9-0-0)

Last round, the doctors proved that they can still steam-roll great teams without their best player, Mark "wombat" Larsen.  Come Monday, wombat will be present, and the already devastating force of the doctors will become an unstoppable juggernaut, destroying buildings, eviscerating the elderly, and devouring newborns in its wake.  Though TDA is a top contender, and they certainly stand a chance to pull off the win, the doctors' individual player skill and years of teamwork will simply be too much for a clan that relies too heavily on tapping asses.

Gashuffer's Prediction: doctors, 2-1.

[18] Midnight Tokers - (9-0-0)

vs.

[10] The Experiment - (9-0-0)

Midnight Tokers has been the sleeper clan of the tournament, quietly gaining victories over Exile East and Team Pandemic.  Still largely ignored and unknown, MT has a lot to prove coming into this match against the highly favored Experiment, and is more than up the challenge.  The Tokers have been practicing incessantly these past few weeks, while many of ex's players spent last weekend at a lan.  Expect MT to pull off the upset, as the Experiment stands dumbfounded, their eyes clouded with a miasma of smoke, their ears ringing with the din of lighters igniting victory bowls.

Gashuffer's Prediction: MT, 1-0.

Come on back next week to see how he did and to keep reading his predictions as the tournament nears the Grand Finals. Keep it locked on GotFrag.com; you're #1 source for Team Fortress 2 news and coverage.
