Team Fortress 2: CEVO-P TF2 Week 6-2 Predictions & Melee

By: Everett Wells - Published February 19, 2008 at 10:46 PM EST - Writer Archive
REK gets their shot at Pandemic in another round on cp_well.
North America - It's been a little while since I got excited for CEVO-P, but there are some pretty darn good matchups for 6-2 as the teams duke it out on cp_well. Also, there are rumours of what could potentially be a crit-free playoffs this season, yet unconfirmed by CEVO, which could hopefully perk up the CEVO-P teams as they make the final push through week 7.

20ID had a good showing and a good win last round against RA, but this weeks match against the new fragD squad will be a much better test to see if 20ID's still got the right stuff. Meanwhile, after pulling off a somewhat controversial win on Mach4 over fragD, REK finds themselves opposite the still-undefeated Pandemic in what could be the biggest match of the season for the Wrecked ones. The final matchup this week is Pure v SIT, which is still listed as a match (ie. I don't think Pure has died), but with Pure giving up two straight FFs..

Predictions:

Wrecked v Team Pandemic - MOTW
I've been riding REK for two straight matches now, and if last weeks tout against fragD was their "big chance" to prove their a force in this league, this matchup is like.. well, I can't swear in public, but you get the idea. The heavy, major, massive underdogs of REK took a clean sweep of mach4 over RA and fragD, and now face the kings of CEVO-P - who, by the way, haven't played since dustbowl. All weekend I've seen REK spamming for cp_well scrims; they know how big this match is and how big it would be if they pull out the win.

..I can't believe I'm saying this. A very large part of my brain knows - knows - that Pandemic is going to win this match, but how can you not root for the underdogs in this situation? C'mon, REK, lets see what you're made of!
REK [4:2] Pandemic.TF2

Frag Dominant v 20ID
Just as worthy as a MOTW distinction as the above matchup, this tout between fragD and 20ID will be the deciding factor in 20IDs bid for 2nd seed - if not #1. If this match was still between 20ID and HSE, I'd be a lot more confident in the TGL Champs - but fragDs new acquisitions instantly made them an undeniable contender (despite the loss to REK), and choosing between these two is tough indeed. This match is going to come down to the wire, and I look forward to watching the POVs afterwards.. but a choice must be made, and make it I shall.
fragD [4:2] 20ID

Pure Gaming v Saget In Tights
Ahh SIT.. poor, lonely, unlucky SIT. In 7 scheduled matches in February, SIT has played just two - a win over 20ID and a close loss to makeSHIFT. The rest of the matches have been against teams that, time and again, seemed to die the week before playing SIT - and the poor brothers in Tights are again lined up with a team in trouble, and will most likely receive a FF win for this one too.
Pure [0:4] SIT
