Team Fortress 2: CEVO Playoff Info

By: Everett Wells - Published November 19, 2008 at 3:24 PM EST - Writer Archive
A rundown of the upcoming CEVO TF2 playoffs.
(GotFrag) - Well, there were a few other things going on last night (not to mention L4D) that had yours truly a little distracted, but thanks to some intrepid journalism (ie. I browsed our forums and saw this thread), I quickly realized my error and skipped over to the CEVO site to read up on what's going on. The biggest news is the inclusion of cp_dustbowl as the opening map for the playoffs, which... well... I'll leave opinions on that to the comments section. Here's a few snippets from release, with the full press release on the next page.

Professional:

The CEVO-P playoffs will consist of the top 8 teams in the division ranked by the CPI. These teams will compete in a 8 team double-elimination bracket until a winner is crowned for their share of the $2,300 in prizes.

Round 1: cp_dustbowl - Monday, December 1st
Round 2: cp_granary - Thursday, December 4th
Round 3: cp_well - Monday, December 8th
Round 4: cp_gravelpit - Thursday, December 11th
Round 5: cp_badlands - Monday, December 15th
Round 6: bo3 Finals - Thursday, December 18th

Amateur:

The CEVO-A playoffs will consist of the top 8 teams from each conference (Atlantic & Central) based on the CPI. These teams will compete in a national 16 team double-elimination bracket until a winner is crowned for their share of the $1600 in prizes.

Round 1: cp_dustbowl - Monday, December 1st
Round 2: cp_granary - Thursday, December 4th
Round 3: cp_well - Monday, December 8th
Round 4: cp_gravelpit - Thursday, December 11th
Round 5: cp_badlands - Monday, December 15th
Round 6: cp_granary - Thursday, December 18th
Round 7: cp_well - Monday, December 22nd
Round 8: bo3 Finals - Monday, December 29th

So, it looks like no BYEs for anyone, and the top 8 from each conference (which means 16 teams for CEVO-A) will advance? More info to come when CEVO actually plugs teamnames into the brackets (I believe they're waiting on makeup matches). So, umm, whoo-hooo dustbowl!
