Team Fortress 2: TWL Season 4 Qualifiers: Week 2

By: James - Published May 10, 2009 at 11:26 PM EDT - Writer Archive
The Qualifiers continue on Granary!
(GotFrag Community) - Joosy predictions continue for Week 2 after going 5/6 last week, with 2 forfeits. Can I keep up this amazing streak? Read on to see!

Entering Week 2, TWL now has 57 teams registered, with 26 pending and of those pending 10 of them have 4+ on their roster. Hopefully these teams can get their kinks worked about before May 12th, because that is when registration officially closes!

Week 1 went very well, with only 2 matches ending in a forfeit, hopefully this week goes just as smoothly and has just as many interesting match-ups.

On to the predictions!

Season 4 Qualifiers: Week 2

Match of the Week – Clan uBer vs. Kryptic Gaming:

The first MOTW was a great game to watch and I’m hoping that this one is just as exciting. Unfortunately I don’t think this will be the case. Unless uBer has improved drastically since last season, I see Kryptic taking this one with ease. Kryptic has been notorious for losing whenever I predict them to win, let’s hope they can overcome the Curse of the Juice and win this one in front of TWL fans!

You can watch this match live at: www.e-rev.tv on Tuesday, May 12th.

Winner: Kryptic Gaming

Aged in Oak Casks vs. S H O C K:

AoC had a tough first week loss against Rage and Terror and will be looking to bounce back against SHOCK, who are coming off a close 3-1 loss against Clan uBer. SHOCK had a hard season last year and are looking for a strong start to the season this time around. I have faith that AoC will be able to gather their troops and get their first win of the qualifiers.

Winner: Aged in Oak Casks

Double-Penetration vs. Team Fortress 2 Fort Squigglies:

DP are coming off a creaming by Team Vipers last week, whereas the Squigs just wrapped up a close win against deFy. The hardest part with this prediction was that I never know who the Squigs are going to bring each night. If they put their best foot forward, they would almost be a shoe-in for Division 1. But with their large roster and unpredictability, it’s hard to judge who they are going to be week-to-week. However, even with a less strong line-up, I feel as though they should be able to pull this one off.

Winner: Team Fortress 2 Fort Squigglies

Epidemic vs. Rage and Terror:

I like this match-up. I don’t think it will be a very close game, R&T are just too strong a team at this point, but I do think it will give us a good insight as to how good epidemic really are. I haven’t really had a chance to see them in action and their Week 1 win against the mathackers is hardly enough evidence to base a good prediction off them. If they are able to take a round or two from R&T, it will say a lot.

Winner: Rage and Terror

FYC e-Sports vs. The YO FAMILY:

FYC is going to have their work cut out for them this week, taking on a very strong yofa team that is probably looking to go undefeated, or very nearly so, over the next month. Should be an interesting game to see, but ultimately going the yofa way.

Winner: The YO FAMILY

Hac attack vs. The Uber Melons:

The Uber Melons came off a key win last week. Unfortunately they lost their star player (guess who!) to eye surgery this week and will have to make due without him.

Winner: The Swiss

Misfits! Vs. ionic:

This is another game I’d like to watch. The Misfits are somewhat unknown to me and playing against ionic will be a good gage of their strength and how far they could go in this qualifier. They had a blow-out win against WMD last week, whereas ionic (formerly Disturbing the Peace) had a somewhat closer win against Team g0f. In the end, I’m going to go with my gut here and take ionic.

Winner: ionic

Snow Bear University vs. eXpertise:

Once again, the Snow Bears disappoint me by giving me my one incorrect prediction. eXpertise were unable to play last week due to a lack of players. I have been assured that this week will not be a problem. This should actually be a good game, but since SBU was involved in the MOTW last week, we can’t cast this one. Usually with games I expect to be close, I go with my gut and hope they are right. However in this case I am going to pick SBU in the hopes they lose when I predict them. Yeah, that’s right.

Winner: Snow Bear University

the terribles vs. Crack Clan:

This should be another decent game. On one hand, cc definitely do not want to go down 0-2 to start the season. On the other hand, the terribles may just be too much for them to handle at this point. I hate to say it cause I love the cc guys (except V), but you’re going to have a long hard climb if you want to make it to the top division.

Winner: the terribles

The un-Named vs. House Forsaken TF2:

TuN are making a comeback to TWL Leagues, after having skipped Season 3. I think they’ll have a solid impact and could see them slipping easily into Division II. HF are going to have to kick and bite their whole way through the qualifiers. My hat goes off to the guys from HF.

Winner: The un-Named

Treason vs. GameFAQs Clan:

Treason got a forfeit win last week. This week is their first real win.

Winner: Treason

Truwar E-SPORTS vs. Silent Warriors TF2:

Oh Truwar…. will you never get a MOTW? Look for spoo to kill himself a couple of times during the course of the match.

Winner: Truwar E-SPORTS

Hope you enjoyed the predictions; don’t forget to check out the cast on Tuesday! I’ll let everyone know the exact time when I do!
