Warcraft 3: NiP replaced in NGL one

By: Jason Loadholt - Published August 31, 2006 at 12:23 PM EDT - Writer Archive
After a fourth place finish in last season's NGL one WarCraft III league, NiP is being replaced by World Elite.
After a top finish in WC3L Season IX as a stand-in team, China's World Elite will replace NiP's WarCraft III team in the upcoming NGL one season. World Elite's European team will also make an attempt to join the league as they plan to parttake in the NGL one qualifiers.

World Elite's decision was made easy by the fact that they would not have to undergo the qualifying process, immediately attaining the position once held by NiP.

World Elite's HoTLiPs said the following to SK-Gaming regarding NGL's move:

The grand finals of the first NGL-One season are just over and the best Warcraft and Counter-Strike teams have battled for first place and a lot of prize money as well. But every fan of Warcraft III has probably noticed that one of the leading teams was missing; it was of course the asian team World Elite. Therefore I am glad to announce that we will take part in the upcoming season of NGL-One with the goal to attend the next finals. Actually we are lucky because we can take over the spot of NIP and donīt need to play the qualification which was definitely a main-reason for our decision. I also would like to announce that our very own european team will play the qualification for the second season and hopefully they will qualify successful. I want to thank Khaldor for his help and I am looking forward to experience a very tough and exciting season with a strong performace of our two teams.

This move comes as a shock to NiP's WarCraft III organizer, Min-Sik "reis" Ko, as he was not informed by anyone about this news. Ko also confirmed that NiP did not renew the contracts of the Warcraft 3 team, but the team will remain together and already has an offer from another sponsor.

Next season's NGL one WarCraft III teams include:

United Kingdom 4Kings.Intel
South Korea Meet Your Makers
Sweden SK Gaming
China World Elite IGE
Germany Mousesports.GeIL
Sweden fnatic Team
Finland Serious Gaming
Germany mTw
