With the World Cyber Games Grand Final event just a week away, the organization has released the first stage schedules. Seventy-four players representing fifty-four countries will square off in Monza, Italy. Xiaofeng "WE.IGE.Sky" Li last year's champion is making a return trip to WCG to defend his crown, while Manuel "4K^Grubby" Schenkhuizen, the 2004 champion, will look for revenge after his 3rd place finish in 2005. Another challenger for the title is Yoan "4K^ToD" Merlo, who finished 3rd in 2004 and 4th in 2005.

The tournament will begin with group play round robin where the players have been split into sixteen groups, from which the top two ranked players will advance to the single elimination best of three stage. The last player standing will win the Gold Medal as well a nice $25,000 prize.
