The 4K 2v2 team of Grubby and ToD were widely regarded as being close to unbeatable, but after a close loss to Lucifer and Moon during the WC3L Season IX LAN Finals, they realized that their strong team play wasn’t enough-- they needed to overcome the combined might of key racial pairings. So, midway through Season X, they decided to replace ToD with Zeus[19], playing up to the Night Elf's strength in team battles. The team used this team to play 8 out of 11 matches and winning 6. Ironically, the new Zeus[19]/Grubby team lost to the very team they were trying to beat-- Lucifer and Moon, who took them down two to zero. Nevertheless, 4K seems to be pushing this team since there's probably a good reason why most 2v2 teams have a Night Elf (or two) between them. * Many 2v2 players switch races during 2v2 games. Real race icons are maintained to represent the players.
Four Kings Afterthoughts The rematch between champions will take place earlier than anticipated, as 4K and mYm play the first round of the finals. Getting knocked out of the upper bracket doesn't mean that one team's chances of taking home the championship are out the window. Both 4K and mYm are both equally capable of wading through the lower bracket and forcing a turnaround. Four Kings managed to take the championship from mYm back in WC3L Season VIII in a huge upset, winning twice even with just three players present from their roster. The final results will depend significantly on the matchups. Grubby, who has been virtually unbeatable this season, has only one tough opponent to be wary of -- Moon. Grubby has beaten Moon in the past, but the matchup fresh on everyone's mind is his recent defeat to Moon in Super Fight. This doesn't mean it's a sure win for MYM if they're matched up, however, since Grubby always seem to perform well under pressure. ToD performs great as well, and has a lot of experience playing on LAN with favorable results. The bottom line is, online or off, Four Kings never ceased to shine. They have rough patches here and there, but they've always been the most consistent of them all. As long as they bring their best performance into the finals, they can most certainly bring home the championship one more time. |
