Warcraft 3: Giacomo interviewed about leaving Mousesports

Giacomo parts ways with German powerhouse, Mousesports.
Michael “Giacomo” Hladik is recognized as the best player from the Czech Republic and represents the country in the European Nations Cup. Early last year, he joined up with Mousesports and quickly became one of the strongest players in Europe. However, the German team has recently announced the departure of their star undead player from their roster. GotFrag was able to question Hladik on the reasons behind his decision and his future prospects.

Hladik recalls his decision to leave the team was due to a lack of drive after the team’s performances at the WC3L Season X and NGL-One Season I Finals.

“I lost some motivation after the disappointing finals of WC3L and NGL. We didn’t have the best lineup to compete there and it made us seems like only bystanders. It wasn’t fun knowing we could and couldn’t do more.”

Furthermore, Hladik had felt a loss of confidence in his team. The Czech player feels the team wasn’t clicking the right way anymore and saw no reason to continue his contract. This discontent contributed to Hladik’s disappearance from the scene, as well as the lack of recent tournaments, giving him no purpose to remain practicing.

“If you know that you cannot win as a team, then continuing to take part in it seems pointless and merely a waste of time. The reason I stopped practicing 2-3 months ago was because of this. Also, there weren’t any tournaments for me in last few months so my available time was concentrated on real life stuff.”

After leaving Mousesports, many speculated that Hladik would fall into inactivity. He confirms that about a month ago, thoughts of ending his career were definitely in his mind. However, after leaving Mousesports, he gained a renewed sense of inspiration. With many tournaments lined up this year, he plans on training more frequently and vigorously than ever.

“The truth is, I haven’t practiced much at all and wanted to retire from Warcraft. This led to some poor results on my part. Now, I have better motivation to play after I left mouz and will practice hard like when I first joined. There are some nice tournaments this year I want to participate in.”

To help him accomplish these goals, Hladik is looking at possibilities of joining another WC3L/NGL team and carry on his career awhile longer.

“I want to join a sponsored-team and practice for something like WC3L or NGL. I may finish my WC3 path at the end of this year, although I haven’t decided. But for now, I will perform to the best of my abilities in every tournament and league before that time comes.”

This makes Hladik the best free agent on the European market and a great addition to any team. With the WC3L Season XI wrapping up and the qualifiers announced shortly, expect Hladik’s name to be popping up again soon.
