Warcraft 3: American S5 Regionals

By: Rob Maher - Published June 01, 2007 at 9:33 PM EDT - Writer Archive
Eight of North America's best have gathered at the House of Blues in San Diego, California for the Season Five Regionals.
The House of Blues in San Diego, California is playing host to the American Regionals for Blizzard's 5th ladder season. Eight of North America's best are here to earn one of two spots for the Global Final at Blizzcon in August. This is a drastic change from last season, as 16 were invited, and four spots were given out.

Both SonKiE and KiWiKaKi were directly qualified for this event due to their top performances at last season's finals. The other six were forced to qualify through an intense month-and-a-half online ladder season. An interesting point of note is the inclusion of top American Nilknarf, as last season he was unable to participate due to the WSVG finals being held the same date.

The tournament format will be a standard best-of-three, double-elimination with the top two performers earning themselves tickets to Blizzcon.

Aren't the Global Finals for Warcraft III at Blizzcon like WoW? I thought Germany was another WC3 regional accompanied by the WC3L Finals? Not trying to bash you over a typo or anything, just making sure for myself :P
