A short interview with Rene "Ciara" Krag right after his first match against defending champion Jae Wook "Lucifer" Noh. ![]() What do you think about the players in your group? How far do you expect yourself to go in the tournament and are there any players you'd rather face or avoid? I guess there are pretty good players, but I don't know the current shape of Wolf or Jack. Lucifer is Lucifer, he used to be a pretty strong player but he seems out of shape, like in a slump. On the next rounds, I'd rather avoid players like Creolophus or generally just Night Elf players, because it's Elf... and they are harder to play against. What do you think about the ESWC map pool? It sucks for Orc because it doesn't have Lost Temple. Humans have small maps like Echo Isles, and even if Orc has Secret Valley they are going to remove that map anyway. Any of the other maps can be Orc maps against Undead, I guess, but that's just racial advantage. For Night Elf, I'd rather play on Secret Valley but they'd remove that too. I'd probably remove Terenas Stand or Twisted Meadows against Elf, but that's dependent on who I'm playing against. What are your thoughts about your match against Lucifer that was played on the main stage? Game 1 I had a really good start against Lucifer, I thought I was gonna win it after the first 5 minutes, but he pulled some amazing micro in the end and came out as the winner. On the second game, I did good scouting and always creepjacked him. And continued to keep pressuring him as well as putting up an expansion, just holding him down and not giving him any breathing room to get back at the game. So we're at 1-1 for that match. How did you prepare for this event? I did play some ladder but not that much. I'd give myself 2/10 when it coems to being prepared in this tournament. But I perform better under pressure and on LANs so I might still get lucky and show some good results. How do you compare yourself as a player from last year to now? Last year at ESWC I wasn't prepared at all and lost first group stage. But in WCG 2006 I really trained hard for it and it paid off, since I managed to take a top 8 spot. So I don't know how far I'd go this ESWC, but I'm hoping to at least produce some better than expected results. |
