Rob "zeegstar" Maher managed to grab the champion of Battlenet Season 5, Olav "4K^Creolophus" Undheim, for a few words after his victory. ![]() First of all, congratulations on winning BlizzCon. How do you feel taking first place? It feels pretty great! This year I hoped to win a big tournament and after I got 2nd place at ESWC, I was pretty satisfied with that. I thought I wouldn't attend any more tournaments, so I'm really happy that I managed to [win Blizzcon]. Obviously, the big rumor is that you're going to be retiring. Is this your last tournament? I'm starting school in one week and then I will at least not play Warcraft III for a couple of months. I already qualified for WCG so I will probably go there if it fits with my exams and things like that, but I don't know how much I will play [during the] summers. You've been in the Warcraft scene for quite a while now, how does it feel to finally be on top? This is your first big international win. What can I say, it comes down to practice, and even when you start to be in the scene like you start to attend events, there is always so much to learn. Even though there is more than a year since I've started to go to many events, I still had to get experience. It's a lot about practice too. Do you attribute most of your success to joining 4Kings? Yeah for sure, because in 4K you really get good practice, and we try to help each other a lot. Watching replays, and giving insight, things like that. So of course it helped a lot. In 4K everyone has big expectations for everyone, and you're supposed to win every match, so you put something extra on yourself so you practice more. Of course it helps. You beat Moon, Nilknarf, and Remind (twice) to win the tournament. Which one do you think gave you your biggest challenge? To be honest, I had the most trouble against Nilknarf. All the games against Nilknarf, he had a huge advantage at some point, where it was only his mistakes that gave me the win. In the other games against Moon and ReMinD, it was really close but, it was nothing like I was losing hard and their mistakes gave me the win. So onto the Grand Finals against ReMinD, could you give me a quick recap of what went right in the games you won, and what happened in the game you lost? The first game on Echo Isles, I went PotM just to vary [my game] a bit. I think I won the game at some point when I made the expo. The expo went up, and he went there with his army. I went to his base and killed his Ancient of Lores while building my own Lores, and he didn't have enough units to kill my expo so I could TP and save it. At that point I got Dryads faster and my expo got up, so I won. On Terenas Stand, I tried Dark Ranger with archers. At some point he almost managed to kill all my archers, and I thought like, "okay this is over." But then I kind of came back because he attacked me in my base, and I managed to survive, so he had to TP out again. Actually, it was only my mistakes there in the end which gave him the win. On Secret Valley, I was kind of hoping he would do PotM, because I'm pretty good against it. He made two Ancient of War Hunts, and tried to expo. I killed his expo and got better tech, so I won. |
