Jaclyn "JacziE" Lo takes a look at the ENC Warcraft 3 Finals.
Team Germany
Germany has long been known as one of the most powerful European Warcraft III country in the world. They are very passionate about gaming, with the most active e-sport communities in the world. In the European Nations Championship, Germany played in Group B against teams such as Netherlands, Finland and France with a 4-1 score, losing only to Sweden, another finalist. Germany still retained the 1st place spot on the group, giving them a free ticket to Leipzig for the finals. Player Spotlight: Daniel "XlorD" Spenst While HasuObs appear to have performed better than XlorD, I still consider XlorD as the strongest potential player for Germany. He has represented Germany in WCG, along with representing SK Gaming in the recent WC3L finals, with decent results. His only loss in ENC came from SaSe (Sweden), but he managed to win against Zeus[19] (Croatia) and Wolf (France) -- considerably two of the best players of their respective countries. He stands as the up and coming next generation of German talents.
Team Sweden
Sweden might not have a large population, but they are certainly doing something right in the progaming department. This country has been known to produce top e-sport competitiors, from games ranging from Warcraft III to Counterstrike. It’s no surprise that they managed to qualify for the ENC finals, defeating Bulgaria in the relegation match in a close 3-2 battle. SaSe continues to be at the pinnacle of his game, taking down Bulgaria’s star Insomnia; while newcomer KnOfF manages to wrangle a win for himself against Shocker. The icing on the cake comes with the 2v2 team of KnOfF and FuRy defeating Sir_J and InFeRno to bring home the ticket to Leipzig. Sweden has a formidable team with three very talented Night Elves – GlaiVe, SaSe and LiiLD.C. They also have two Orc players with Elakeduck and KnOfF, along with highly experienced Undead player FuRy. This team is certainly a top contender to take the top prize for ENC. Player Spotlight: Kim "SaSe" Hammar Hammar needs to be called out with big wins against Insomnia, Satiini and XlorD -- certainly no pushovers. He didn't play all matches for Sweden, but he took wins against players who are considered the best of their respective countries. SaSe is as close to being a "sure point" for Sweden. Just add a two more and Sweden ends up on 1st place.
