GotFrag previews this weekend's Warcraft III WCG 2007 Final event.

World Cyber Games 2007 - Group A

Player List

Denmark Maelk - 2006 4th place
Denmark MaNia- -

Germany Levent
Germany H4nn1-
United States Merlini
United States p0c
United States Fang
- inactive

Meet Your Makers is the most experienced LAN team attending this tournament. They have defeated SK Gaming at Dreamhack two years in a row and always come out strong in online tournaments. This powerhouse team, considered the second best team in the world should have no problem taking home first place.

All MYM DotA players will be attending the LAN except for slahser, so the team will have no problem putting together a solid roster.

Potential Finishers: HoT and XyLigaN. They can also break top 8.
Dark Horse: Longwalk. He can be dangerous if underestimated.
The Sleeper: Kowi. He isn't that "big" compared to his groupmates, but he has several international LAN tournaments under his belt.

World Cyber Games 2007 - Group B

Player List

France ToD - 2006 2nd place
South Korea Moon
- potential winner
Poland TeRRoR
Hungary DNA
Ghost
Portugal Last_phoenix
Malaysia Paulyan -
not attending

This is one of the more interesting groups to check out. Two names stand out—Moon and ToD. ToD took second place last year, losing to Sky in the finals. Since then, he has won several other tournaments and looks to be in the shape of his life. Moon on the other hand, has been itching to return to WCG after missing out for two years. They are certainly two of those who can bring home the top prize.

Darkhorses and underdogs are TeRRoR from Poland and DNA from Hungary. These two have performed decently during online leagues. But despite their raw talent, it might be hard for them to actually take a map away from the Moon/ToD powerhouse.

Potential Finishers: ToD and Moon. Who even doubts this result? The big question is: who wins when they go head to head?
Dark Horse: DNA. Unfortunately for him, he's an Orc player bunched up agaisnt Human and Night Elf.
The Sleeper: TeRRoR. Best of one is volatile. He might be able to pull off a win from any of the favorites.

World Cyber Games 2007 - Group C

Player List

Germany XlorD
Peru DanGer
Italy DeVilMaZ
Switzerland HasuHasi
Argentina Mr.Tutu
Martinique PC-MA
Slovenia tine

Ixi, better known as XlorD, probably feels pretty lucky to be seeded into this group.

Aside from the young German, there aren’t a lot of notable names that pose a threat for him to take the 1st place. As for the 2nd spot, I’ll take a wild guess and choose Mr. Tutu.

Potential Finishers: XlorD. Duh. It will be a big blow for Ixi if he even finishes 2nd, unless he does it on purpose to get a better opponent in the 2nd round.
Dark Horse: Mr. Tutu. I heard from a little bird that this guy does well in the Azeroth ladders.
The Sleeper: Everyone else. I'm sorry if I offend anyone on the list. Not my intention!

World Cyber Games 2007 - Group D

Player List

China Sky - '05 and '06 champ
South Korea SoJu
- ESWC '07 winner
South Korea Lyn
- ESWC '07 4th
Croatia Zeus[19]
Denmark Ciara
Jamaica NA-JA
Mexico Raspot
Lithuania Lose

Say hello to the group of death, made even harder! A few weeks ago, Sky was in another group—but since Lyc was unable to obtain a visa, Sky was moved up as China’s 1st seed which ended him in Group D.

Aside from the former champion gracing this group—he’s met with two South Korean hopefuls: Orc player Lyn and recent ESWC champion SoJu. Lyn showed he has what it takes to defeat a champ, taking down Sky in a best of five during Warcraft World War. SoJu took down the world’s best in ESWC, so if he manages to keep the shape he had at that event, he should also be another favorite to win it all.

These three players are considered those who can reach the top 4—and if that tight competition isn’t enough, they are joined by talented players such as Zeus[19], Ciara and Lose; who all play regularly online and sometimes on LAN events. This certainly is the most exciting group of all, with the saturation of talent in the same cluster.

Potential Finishers: Sky, Lyn or SoJu. Ouch. Losing any one of them in the top 16 is already a big blow for people who want tight competition until the finals.
Dark Horse: Ciara and Zeus[19]. These two can manage to qualify top two out of any other group, but unlucky for them, they got paired up with three of the strongest contenders of the entire tournament. But who knows, there have been crazy upsets in the past year. (Levin > SoJu, anyone?)
The Sleeper: Lose. While his name pertains to the negative, Lose is considered a decent European player.
