Warcraft 3: ToD vs MysT: Post Game

David vs Goliath. ToD vs Myst. While everyone else was busy watching Grubby vs Sky and Fly100% vs Moon, Brazilian MysT quietly enjoyed his little victory against a WCG veteran.

Game 1 - Turtle Rock

Let me preempt this recap by telling you that the game ended in less than five minutes.

The reason is obvious: ToD and MysT spawned side by side on Turtle Rock. As soon as ToD scouted the favorable position, he quickly sent Militia to start attacking MysT’s base. After which, he went on to tower MysT’s base.

MysT took the Warden as his first hero with Archers, which were unable to push ToD back. Instead of prolonging the game any further, MysT quickly says GG.

Game 2 - Terenas Stand

ToD opened the game with a regular strategy, taking an Archmage as his first hero with Footmen; and using some Militia to the nearby Goblin Laboratory to creep it quickly.

MysT on the other hand, took a very unconventional hero: The Priestess of the Moon. This obviously isn’t seen very often in high level matches. ToD scouts MysT’s base and the Elf opted to put down two Ancients of War, while a Huntress Hall is hidden far away, right near the south west bridge of the map.

ToD, taking cue from his quick and easy first game, quickly turned some of his peasants to Militia and goes straight to MysT’s base; again with the intention to tower push. He quickly builds a Lumber Mill so he can build Guard Towers.

MysT has an army of Archers along with his hero, trying to defend his base against ToD taking the offensive. ToD builds up four towers at the outskirts of MysT’s base. ToD didn’t have a lot of Footmen to supplement his push, compared to MysT, who was producing units from to AoWs. ToD went in MysT’s base in a bid to finish off some low hp units, only to get his hero down to very low hitpoints, forcing him to TP out and call off his tower push.

Still at tier 1, ToD decided to creep the upper right corner expansion instead, with the aid of some Militia. He tries to set up towers and the expansion. MysT attacks ToD’s base, then moves to ToD’s expansion – but his PotM took a lot of damage, forcing MysT to TP away.

ToD hires two Shredders to his army, in hopes of adding much needed tankers and damage against MysT’s archers. MysT then switches to Huntresses, coupled with some Glaive Throwers, and pushes ToD’s expansion. ToD doesn’t have any tier 2 units, as he just teched to tier 2. MysT outnumbers ToD’s army, gets his PotM to level 6 and ToD conceded the game.

Game 3 - Twisted Meadows

ToD spawned on the 1 o’clock position with MysT adjacent to his left. As soon as ToD’s Archmage spawned, he brought a couple of Militia to the nearby Goblin Laboratory to creep, picking up a Scourge Bone Chimes for his hero.

MysT again chooses the Priestess of the Moon as his first hero, along with two Ancients of War and a Huntress Hall.

ToD moves towards the 4 o’clock expansion area, creeping it with Footmen and Militia, and then setting up an expansion. MysT again opts for mass hunts. ToD sets up his expansion, while building towers on both his bases.

A small skirmish occurs between the two players, where both the Archmage and the Priestess are both low on HP. The PotM uses shadowmeld to save herself but ToD quickly uses Reveal (from the Goblin Laboratory) and attacks the PotM, who decides to TP out. The Archmage however, fell just as MysT portal-ed out.

MysT continues to add more units to his army and pushes Low Upkeep as soon as possible. He pushes ToD’s main base just as ToD was trying to set up towers. MysT manages to take the towers being built down; and ToD decides to build towers a little bit more behind his base instead.

MysT with almost a 70 food count army continues to take the offensive, now with Vorpal Blades upgrade for his Glaive Throwers. ToD repairs his main hall, and MysT switches to attack the towers instead. After a few minutes, MysT succeeds with his siege and takes the town hall down. ToD’s expansion has been mining ever since he put it up undisturbed, but he’s still stuck at tier 1.

MysT decides to retreat back to heal his units, as a lot of his Huntresses were low on HP. After he healed up, he moves back to the offensive. It was clear that ToD had nothing to match MysT’s entire army, leaving ToD to say GG and wishing his opponent good luck for the next rounds.
