Twelve Warcraft players from around the globe have converged onto Los Angeles this weekend, to compete in the Extreme Masters. The tournament will be held at the E for All convention, where the top two non European players will earn a spot to play in the Extreme Masters II Finals.

The players have been separated into four groups, where the top two of each will advance into the double elimination playoffs. Every match, including the group stage, will use the best of three format, to ensure the best of the best make it to the end.

It seems as though the Koreans would have this tournament on lock-down, but there are a couple of American players who look to stand in there way, and steal one of the two spots to the Extreme Masters Final.

An interesting point of note is that Shortround managed to earn a spot through the local LAN qualifier. Although he didn't defeat anyone noteworthy it will be interesting to see how he performs, especially with him being missing in action for over a year.
