This is Beijing Esport Team's first appearance in the WC3L LAN Finals. With a roster of very talented South Koreans, do they have what it takes to surge to the top? ![]() Beijing Esport Team
Sweet was one of BET’s first ever players, back when they had a cooperation with SK Gaming. When that fell apart, Sweet and Zacard decided to stay with BET and form a full team rather than return to SK exclusively. Sweet has since stayed with the team while Zacard has retired from the scene. BET was slowly formed by picking up players from other teams. ChecK was picked up after he left wNv, Showbu was part of the old Go clan, and Jini used to play for MYM. Their only relative “unknown” is WhO – but despite not having experience, WhO stepped up and is one of the team’s top performers. BET’s recent acquisition is FoV. He’s one of the most respected Undead players in the scene. He won himself an ESWC crown and was an integral part of the Four Kings roster, until he decided to leave his long-time clan for the chance to live in China with wNv. FoV did not extend his contract with wNv, and now found himself with the next best thing – BET. Beijing Esport Team’s Solo Matches
BET is a hard team to decipher. Compared to other clans – they don’t seem to rely on one or two players but spread out the playing time. Perhaps having two Undeads on the lineup isn’t too favorable for the team, but then again having Lucifer and Susiria worked well for MYM. Four of their main players played 7 solo matches each. I’m not the BET manager to know whether or not this is a coincidence by virtue of choosing the best lineup or simply a case of Even Stevens. FoV is the obvious performer for the team, taking 5 wins and only 2 losses on top of playing numerous 2v2 matches. Despite having the disadvantage against Orc, FoV was able to beat DuCui and Rob – but in the finals, he has to expect bigger players than these two. He also defeated Lucifer in Undead mirror, a potential match in the finals. WhO definitely has potential. He made people start talking when he beat ReMinD in the WCG qualifiers. Who would have expected such a newcomer to knock an veteran out in the first round? In the WC3L, he only has two losses – against ToD and ReMinD – and won against Sai, XyligaN and Yellow. Sweet isn’t the big performer for BET, despite being its main posterboy. He only won one match – against SaSe right in the tail end of the season. Good thing for him though – he managed to take revenge against Shy in the Playoffs, pushing BET into the LAN finals.
To Sweet’s credit, despite his abysmal performance in the solo arena – he shines in the 2v2 matches. Without those wins, they probably wouldn’t have made it to the finals. Sweet mostly played with FoV, and this combination gave them wins against ReMinD and Lyn – a potential force in the finals. Sweet’s partner is FoV, who surprisingly is good at 2v2. Last season, FoV and Soccer (back at wNv) dominated the 2v2 convincingly. Now he’s partnered up with Sweet, and sometimes ChecK, to huge success. He only lost two matches – against SaSe and Fly100% and Protois and hanf –because people they don’t need to worry about in the finals. BET’s 2v2 is somewhat similar to MYM’s – two Undeads and a reserve elf. Although ChecK doesn’t seem to be very good in 2v2 – he lost most of his matches, winning only one with FoV against Sai and recall.
Weaknesses: I’ve always been doubtful of ChecK’s capabilities. He’s usually more likely to lose than to win, despite being one of Warcraft III’s legends. Hopefully, this won’t be the time when ChecK decides to falter, and I won’t mind being wrong. Prediction: I see BeT fighting World Elite in the bottom half of the top 4. I don’t feel that they have enough firepower to manage to get into the top two spots.
