His name reads like a riddle, a question that works as an answer.

“Everyone wonders about WhO,” he says.

Also known as Du Sub Jang, this South Korean Orc player certainly knows how to pick a name to make people wonder about his identity. “I chose this name to bring people into curiosity.”

There was little known about this player, almost close to none, when he began his career with Beijing E-sports Team. Amidst his more popular, high-profile teammates, WhO was a newcomer who was expected to sit on the sidelines and eventually fade into oblivion.

But he isn’t new to Warcraft III. This Orc player has been playing Warcraft since the beginning. “I played a lot on RoC then I played TFT a bit later after it came out.” When asked if there was any special reason for choosing Orc as his main race, he says, “There was no particular special beginning,” and laughs. “I’d rather call this... a destiny.”

His love for the game is quite evident in his Battle.net account. Part of the infamous WeRRa clan where most Korean progamers came from, he has amassed more than 5000 games. Not only that, but he’s currently the king of the Kalimdor ladder, 5 levels ahead from the next best player.

For this 13th season of the WC3L, it was evident that he has the immense talent to go places. In a highly competitive field, he managed to defeat foe after foe, which helped his team take the top spot in the rankings.

A week ago, WhO found himself as the number one player in the WC3L, according to the statistics. Being successful in both his 1v1 and 2v2 matches catapulted him up the ranks. At the time of writing, he has a 17-5 win loss solo record and 15-6 in 2v2. Not bad for someone who only turned “pro” after joining BET a year ago.

WhO won the Rookie of the Season award for the 12th season of the WC3L. he had a 5-2 win ratio with a 10-7 mapscore, defeating the likes of Xyligan, HasuObs and Sai. This season, WhO is definitely in contention for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award – he is currently 8-1 in the WC3L and BET’s best performing player.

WhO started out as the 6th man – but now he has proven to be an indispensable addition to the team, rising up to be BET’s most prized players.

WhO cites June “Lyn” Park as his favorite Orc to watch. “I’m improving simply by watching him play.” He also mentions The Fantasista, Jang Jae Ho, as another favorite. “Moon is my hero, as you all know for a fact that he is so awesome (laughs).”

In his hometown Korea, Starcraft is definitely the game to play, but WhO derives a positive outlook on its less popular Blizzard brethren. “The Warcraft III scene is smaller, but I think it is growing more every day.”

And with players like WhO coming up every so often to shake things up, the Warcraft III scene continues to endure.
