[b][u]History[/u][/b]
The first few multiplayer games I played were Age of Empires and Starcraft when me and my neighbor had lanned together. After that I never really touched strategy games and dipped right into Unreal Tournament. Playing this game on my 56k was challenging because I had to aim about 5 e-feet in front of the enemy.
Right around this time I downloaded Day of Defeat beta 1.1 at my friends college. I took it home and hated it to death. Since dod was one of the few games I owned I continued to play it out of boredom. The more I played this game the more fun it seemed to be. I continued to pub dod for about 3 years until I FINALLY obtained high speed internet! The first week of playing with high speed I came from pub nub to being on the cal-i team known as GXA. I played with GXA until the team died about 4 months later.
Immediately afterwards I asked former invite team RBC for a spot on their team. After a few trial scrims I was in. I played for RBC for a little more than a year, helping them achieve a cal-i spot once again, until they also died due to lack of interest in the game.
The next team I joined was named sAs. sAs was a group of great guys who never made it past cal-m. This clan was alot like RBC as it was a tight group of guys who just loved to have fun and goof around. I stood by these guys for about 7 months until a clan named ReBC was formed(RBC reform).
It was only a matter of a few months until we got our invite spot back. I then thought to myself what would happen if I merged together all my friends from both sAs and RBC. A little cautious at first, sAs agreed on the deal as Lawn Chair Mafia was born. Our first few seasons in cal-invite were rather down hill as we were ranked near the lowest in invite. Then a great thing happened to dod. CPL announced that day of defeat would have a small BYOC tournament in the winter of 2004. We eagerly signed our team up even though we were favored to lose. Out of the 12 teams playing at the event there were 6+ cal-i teams(we were ranked the lowest). When it was all said and done we came out of the tournament in 4th place and $1500 richer. This boosted our ego's to say the least as everyone started to talk about how we were 4x better on lan than we were online.
A few seasons of cal-i later a official tournament for summer 2005 was announced. We then thought about expenses and how having a little support on our way to CPL would make things much easier for us. A few weeks later we joined the great ranks in Pandemic. Once again we signed up right away and began our training. The season before CPL we were ranked 2nd to last coming into the playoffs as we had to play 3rd ranked UKZ in the first round. We ended up beating them and moving onto the 2nd round where we played TEC on the same map we played them on earlier in the season. We pulled yet another upset as we made it to the semi finals where we were beat by a respectable check-six. Getting the 3rd seed coming into CPL really gave us a boost of confidence as we made it to the upper bracket finals where we lost to coL and then x6 right after that in the lower bracket finals. This gave us the 3rd place check for $5100. I am currently still apart of team pandemic in the day of defeat division. Right now our division is at a halt and are playing different games until the next patch for dod:s comes out.
