The World Series of Video Games kicks off its 2007 season in Wuhan, China this week.
Wuhan, China (GotFrag) - The WSVG 2007 China stop marks the first stop this year for the organization. It also marks the first tournament ever for World of Warcraft in eSports history. Within the 64 teams there are two North American and one European team. Team Pandemic and MoB Turtle Power both hope to bring home the first place finish.
However with the experienced members of Fnatic, you can count on it to not be an easy task. On top of that, there are 61 other Chinese teams with their eyes on the prize as well. To read Gotfrag's preview of the competition

WTB VIDEO STREAM
#13 i put a link up there for people who want to know how to view Asian characters
so if they lose, it's ridiculous if they lose to people who haven't played all the new stuff
aka 60-70 and a majority of these spells, etc.
That pplive program is useless unless you can read chinese.
How come the rounds played are so inconsistent? Was there a change to the rules?
Some play 3, others 4, and some 5.
btw the WSVG also has their stream up at http://www.thewsvg.com/china_live.php
they doing gd ^^
hope they beat pandemic tbh :D
Yeah, considering the fact that BC has been out in the states/europe for months now, and China just got their hands on it. . .
How can they compete...
Even these top WoW teams on the ladders win around 85-90% only.. and thats against countless other teams, many of them likely being bad pugs with average items.
EDIT: kind of sad how pandemic fit the huge overweight computer nerd stereotype. wonder what their /played times are :D
doesnt take as much skill as CS, but does take a lot of awareness, communication and teamwork. its pretty fun, though gettng the last couple non-arena set items on my mage is going to take a few weeks ]:
edit: and to fill everyone in on how the rating system works, my 5v5 team, Twenty Minute Shower on Mal'Ganis, has a top 25ish rating on the battlegroup, and most of our wins will only net us a 1-9 points, but when we lose, we lose about 25-40 points. so losing to "undergeared pugs" is actually really rare.
No-one really means that WoW is skilless when they say it is. What they mean is that WoW has a large luck factor involved in its gameplay, which usually makes for an uninteresting competition.
The first game, I assume, was Pandemic V Fnatic, I skim read the article and came to this:
"“The first game they got really lucky because the mage dodged twice on 2GD’s (Jay ‘2GD’ Harding, Fnatic’s warrior) attacks and if only one of them would have hit he would have been dead,” said Ingarv, “I mean, only 5% dodge and dodging two attacks is just ridiculous.”"
So their player has a 5% dodge chance, now add the chances of resists, etc. and it becomes rather large. I really dont see the fun in a game where a team can be 1/3 of the way to winning a match if they get lucky. Its like playing CS and after the bomb goes off the Ts have a 5% chance to get 10 rounds instead of 1.
