World of Warcraft: TFO Interviewed

By: Kerry LaRose - Published June 03, 2007 at 3:28 PM EDT - Writer Archive
TFO has advanced to the lower bracket finals and earned a top-3 finish at the Blizzard North American Regional Finals. Their next match is against Pandemic, and will determine who advances to the grand finals in today's event.
We have here today Team TFO also known as "We Lose Cuz Daorok Sux". They are currently in the lower bracket finals, competing for these last 3 spots remaining for the World of
Warcraft Blizzard US Regional Finals. I just wanted to speak with the team for a few minutes
here and have their comments on how the tournament has gone so far, how they feel about
their performance, and perhaps get some insight on why Daorok sucks so much.

I'm Kalera, the team's warrior. Daorok is a guy that I knew from Dark Age of Camelot. He
tried playing WoW, and just couldn't take it because he was so bad. We had to kick him off
the team. We made the team as a joke and we got here just playing for fun. We made it. We're
here and we're going to win. That's about it!

So you guys have some confidence going into this and feel it is yours to win?

We're going to beat Pandemic right today.

Do you feel like you'll be changing anything up to make things work out today?

I'm not going to hit the windows key this time, that's what's going to happen.

So if the matches vs Pandemic goes well, what are you looking forward to in the finals
against Flow Gaming?

We've never fought them ever, we'll see how it is. We're going to try and kill that warlock,
then the priest, and that's about it. We're not sure what else to do against them, we've
never fought them. It'll probably be a long fight, it should be easier since they don't have
any burst damage. We should be able to fight them for a long time. We've fought that kind of
team before.

So you guys are familiar with the setup, you're planning on just running your standard
setup?

Yeah, it'll be a long fight. It won't be anything quick like the other teams we have been
fighting.

So what do you think your team really brings to the table that allows you to be successful?

We have a good balance. We started with an elemental shaman, and once we switched to resto
we've been doing a lot better - we have enough heals now. We lost our priest earlier, but
now we're much better.

We know that many teams debate going with an elemental or resto shaman. Having been struck
with one of the disqualifications that has affected so many teams in this tournament forcing
you to adapt, how do you feel about those disqualifications? How have they affected you and
how do you think they have affected the landscape of the tournament as a whole?

I feel that many teams that could have done really well aren't here. I think Overrated would
have done really well. If Pandemic had their team they would have done a lot better. Some of
the teams that came with their whole team didn't wind up doing very well like the Fighting
Mongooses. The Mongooses, we took out.

There's been a lot of press so far about your defeat of The Mongooses. There were many
expectations both on their side and from the community as a whole that they would do much
better than they did.

They said something about the UI, THey only practiced about a week without it, and we were stomping them when we practiced against them. We were pretty confident against them.

Are there any other comments on this tournament, how it's been run?

We look forward to going to the 25 grand tournament.

Well, you guys have qualified now, top 3 finish guaranteed. We look forward to seeing you guy there!

Thanks a lot!
