Gotfrag's Aaron Wall speaks with Meet Your Maker's Markus "Mackelina" Dahlgren to talk about their World of Warcraft 5v5 Arena team and the upcoming tournament at BlizzCon. Mackelina plays Holy Paladin for the team. ![]() Alright! Well let me just say first of all, thank you Mackelina and mYm for this opportunity. To start, could you tell us a little bit about your team and it's history? Our team is based on 3 Finnish guys and 2 Swedish guys all playing in the guild mYm(Previously named Curse :] ), We have been playing together since the start of The Burning Crusade as a 5vs5 team and before that together as guild mates. We enjoy playing the game and currently it looks like the playing time and seriousness will only increase with our recent mYm sponsorship :). Your team runs a slightly unconventional setup, making use of a Destruction Warlock. Could you comment on that class composition choice and its benefits and challenges? Basically I would say that we have one of the best class setups but not the best specs, We are thinking of after BlizzCon changing to Holy Priest, Elemental Shaman and Demonology warlock but we'll see! Ah so a similar composition to what Team EG ran at the US Regional Finals. Curse Gaming is widely known for it's success in PVE. Has your team been able to benefit from an increased access to top level gear and gems? Call us MyM now ;), We have been getting access to some top level gear yes. But mostly only the people that has earned it through playing a lot of PvE as well, I am Co GM together with a guy called Mek so PvE is in my interest as well hehe. I myself have been in the guild playing actively since BWL days and Prophet and Peech since AQ days, Sundo and Akina joined in Naxxramas. You can read about the recent mYm sponsorship here. What did your team take away from your experience at the European Regional Finals, and what changes have you made since that tournament? We definitely got a lot of experience Pre-Hamburg and in Hamburg, but we have spent a lot more time playing now preparing for BlizzCon so hopefully we will be prepared enough :). So it sounds like you've had some time to fine tune the team a bit. What are the biggest challenges you see your team facing at Blizzcon? Are there any teams in particular that you think give your class composition a challenge? This question has come up a lot, I can't really see who will end up in top 3 right now but it will definitely be the 3 EU teams, HUKS and TFO fighting for it and they will also be the hardest to beat. Also we were looking forward meeting the Korean teams so its sad in that way that Notorious isn't coming because I think that they have a pretty solid setup vs us without a mage etc. The Blizzard Esports team has been informing players that the new 2.2 patch will be used at BlizzCon. How do you think this will this affect your team, and have you been able to practice with the patch on the Test Realm? I wouldn't say that it will affect us too much since it affects pretty much all other teams as well, we aren't really the crazy dot team that everyone thinks we are. And no we have spent all our time playing on the Live Realm :). And lastly, what are mYm's plans for after BlizzCon? Should we be expecting a return of the team in Season 2 or an appearance at the European WSVG 3v3 tournament? Any roster changes? You can definitely expect a return in Season 2 and hopefully an appearance on all remaining WSVG tournaments, Canada/USA/UK and Sweden. No roster changes as of now no but maybe Spec changes as I said earlier. Thanks again for your time, and we look forward to seeing you guys play in California! Thanks a lot, Hopefully we'll live up to peoples expectations ;) I'd also like to thank MyM and their sponsors for this opportunity in future tournaments! Thanks again to Markus "Mackelina" Dahlgren and mYm for this interview. mYm's first matchup at BlizzCon will be against the winner of Team EG and Nashwan if Notorious is unable to attend as stated. We'll be speaking with Team EG and others as we near the weekend for their thoughts on these matchups and more! |
