MoB TurtleBeach's unconventional setup stumped SK Gaming at the BlizzCon Season 1 Global Finals. ![]() SK Gaming has spent the last couple months playing nothing but the combination of Paladin, Warrior, Mage, Shaman and Priest. Referred to as the “Flavor of the Month”, SK Gaming was utterly lost when faced with a team skilled enough to use a class other then those five. In this case it was MoB TurtleBeach with their Hunter, Lucilus. SK even admitted it before the game as their team leader Zeksy, the priest, said they lacked experience against a hunter. “We have never played against the setup that they are running,” said Zeksy referring to MoB. That seems odd when you consider their practice schedule of 5-6 hours. “We have played a lot since the qualifier, at least 5-6 hours on the best battlegroup in the World,” said Zeksy. The practice of SK didn’t help them though as MoB opened strong winning the first round in fairly quick fashion. Initially MoB targeted Tarde, the mage of SK, forcing SK to focus heals on him. They then switched to Zeksy after the initial attack. The strategy worked as Zeksy went down after he dropped off the bridge to avoid damage but also got out of line of sight of his fellow healer. MoB managed to heal through SK’s primary target Batt, the Shaman for MoB, keeping him alive until the first death. The real story though was the hunter, Lucilus. He remained untouched by SK the entire match. With no one on the hunter, he fired away from long distance applying constant DPS and lead the damage chart for MoB. It was more of the same in the next two rounds as SK just couldn’t switch off the Shaman as the primary target. Where this strategy might work against a “Flavor of the Month” team, with the Hunter in the mix the damage was too high to leave him alone and just heal through it. Zeksy was again the first one to die for SK in the second round as Lucilus continued to lead the DPS charts. One would have expected SK to mix it up and try a new strategy but it was MoB that tried something new. Instead of switching DPS to Zeksy, the holy priest, they remained on Tarde overwhelming the two healers for SK to down him. This gave MoB its third and final win. MoB with the victory broke the European dominance so far that currently stood at 2-0 over the USA before this game. MoB will move on to face Nashwan in the Upper Bracket final tomorrow. The game should come down to how effective Nashwan can handle MoB’s hunter Lucilus. The battle between USA and Europe could be decided by the match. |
