Nashwan, MoB TurtleBeach, Team EG and D E R Tenacity battle it out to win the BlizzCon Season One Global 5v5 Arena tournament. ![]() After they lost quickly to MoB TurtleBeach 3-0, many were sure they were just along for the free trip. Even defeating Pandemic's weakened team in the Lower Bracket was not enough to earn the team respect. Then they challenged SK Gaming and came out ahead. SK's Priest Zeksy said of the set, "A problem with our setup is that everyone has experience against it. We have not played many teams with Hunters or Feral Druids." Team EG lost early to Nashwan's strong team composition due to a combination of mistakes and class disadvantage. Nashwan also played well and was quick to capitalize on the opportunities they made. In the Lower Bracket, EG rallied with a convincing 3-0 sweep in the Lower Bracket and seemed confident heading into the series against Tenacity. The team explained beforehand that they have experience playing against Druids, and that they planned to target him whenever they caught him out Bear Form. They were also confident they could spread out damage with DoTs and change targets frequently. The games played out somewhat to that plan with a few Paladin-killing detours. In the first game, EG lost after taking a more defensive posture while being unable to use Priest Mana Burns to pressure the fight. Tenacity was able to grind them down over time with their uncontrolled Warrior. EG changed tactics and took control of the next 3 matches, often being able to pressure and kill the Tenacity Paladin before other targets. Tenacity's heavy use of the Engineering profession backfired on them in several cases, rooting their Shaman to the ground in game 3. Tenacity largely saved their control abilities for EG's Warrior and Shaman, leaving Warlock Tiz open to damage and control. EG was able to confidently seal the remaining fights. |
