World of Warcraft: MLG PC Circuit opens registration tomorrow

By: Trevor Schmidt - Published May 14, 2008 at 6:22 PM EDT - Writer Archive
32 Team slots will open registration tomorrow for MLG's PC Circuit along with a few changes to the gear.
Major League Gaming’s first ever PC tournament will open registration tomorrow, May 15th, at 7pm EST with World of Warcraft. The MLG San Diego event will feature $22,500 in prizes and be the opening event to the PC Circuit which will continue on to the MLG Orlando and MLG Dallas events later this year.

Along with registration, MLG announced it will also be using Season 2 arena gear. The event’s gear list will be exactly the same as that which Blizzard is currently using on the Tournament Test Realm (TTR). Blizzard announced earlier this year that it would be using Season 2 arena gear for its Tournament Realm server. MLG will also be allowing macros during the tournament in an effort to keep an equal playing field for all competitors.

I would take the signature out of your profile thebadfish if you are going to continue to badmouth a game that your organization supports. Opinions are just dandy, but when you also say you are part of the MoB Gaming Family...your opinion will reflect on that organization.

I didn't really have an opinion until I asked ChanServ:

[19:23] <@MFH|WHO[D]A> !8 Is competitive World of Warcraft good for the competitive PC gaming community?

Let me be clear, your opinion does not bother me, just the ironic nature of who sponsors you considering MoB made a big splash in WoW which probably enabled them to sponsor you in the first place. ;)

WoW as a competitive following has a large attendance, while it's not dominant nor as large as the FPS community on GotFrag - Over on other sites' it's pretty huge, some of the most popular esport related articles in the past year some how relate to WoW.

I don't expect to the typical FPS player to understand WoW, it is a hard game to watch when you have no idea what's going on, although this site has been a haven & reserve for NA FPS players - if you don't think bringing in users & viewers from other gaming communities is a bad business move from Gamebattles - I'll be the first to disagree.

Let's just say a couple other eSport sites, once they started covering competitive WoW their traffic doubled, in sk's move, it tripled almost since december.

It's great in my opinion. I just hope that it doesn't fail like it did in the CGS. What a shame.
