World of Warcraft: EG, SK, more in Orlando Melee/Brackets

By: Nick Bee - Published July 12, 2008 at 12:55 AM EDT - Writer Archive
Some of the best teams in the world gather in Orlando, Florida.
(Orlando, FL)- Four weeks and 3,000 miles ago, the MLG Pro Circuit played host to its first ever PC Gaming tournament. An incredible 270,000 people from 111 countries watched the games take place in San Diego live via MLG and GotFrag TV streams.

Now we find ourselves at the second chapter of the story. Can the inaugural winners EG (then Frag Dominant) take home first place again and start off on the road towards a dynasty? Or will they be knocked out by a new up and comer?

The action kicks off at 10:00am EST/4:00pm CET with the first round matches. The event is structured as a double elimination, best-of-five bracket.

GotFrag TV is set to deliver LIVE coverage of the event from San Diego throughout the weekend. Broadcasting begins at 9:00am PST on Saturday.

"out of nowhere" would be a little harsh :P They are well known in the online community and Glick is widely known as one of the best warlocks in the world. As far as sponsors go, they got dropped by their previous one due to a bad placing at the previous MLG event! =)

What I don't understand is why they pump so much money in one of the most boring of all tournaments to watch?

This is a ridiculous amount of money for a little to no talent game and to give them computers on top of that? Come on...

Why exactly is it a no talent game? Please don't say RNG because all the players have to deal with it.

Neilyo even said wows imbalanced and non competitive, thats coming from arguably the best Rogue in the world (chance or not)

WoWs just full of chance a long with inconsistency and imbalance, thats not what you would really define competitive. I guess people are just drawing the line between what is worthy of being an eSport or a competitive game...

WoW isn't even nearly up there with the rest.

because for some reason, there's still way more people tuning into these mlg streams then there was for 1.6 or other game. Even at Orlando, I guess WoW is just that popular of a game that there's that much of a following for it, despite it's boring appearance.
