GotFrag talks with the Druid from Evil Geniuses, discussing the Extreme Masters event.

Evil Geniuses has a few different representatives being sent to both the WCG and Extreme Masters events in Los Angeles. One of the players representing their World of Warcraft division is Dan "sp0h" Street. GotFrag took some time tonight, before the competition begins tomorrow, to ask his opinion on the Extreme Masters event.

Your first match here at the Extreme Masters event is against x6tence from Spain, who placed a respectable fourth at the Leipzig event. How confident do you feel going against them, and why?

I've personally never played against them, I know Azael was there in Germany, so he's a bit more experienced in terms of what these teams might be running. Having not played many European teams except for the old Nihilum team, I think it's going to be quite interesting. They run a lot of cleave comps, and Warrior Warlock Priest but we don't run a Warrior Warlock Druid so I don't think we have to worry about that. It's going to be tough, they're a really good team. Both brackets will be hard, there are a lot of good teams here...I mean there aren't a lot of teams, but the teams attending are very good. There are no free win teams that may not have established themselves yet. I know there's the PMS team as well so it's going to be tough.

Out of both groups, who do you feel will be your biggest challenge, assuming you had progressed past the group stage.

It's going to have to be the WLD team, simply because it's ... well it's WLD. It's been our toughest challenge, to be honest. Ever since the changes to Cheat Death and the Fel Armor, we've had a tough time consistently beating WLD. When we played on the Blizzard Tournament Realm, we split with a lot of the WLDs, and felt that we had a chance, but there have been a lot of changes that make it difficult especially for rogue survival. That's going to be our biggest challenge.

Warrior Warlock Druid is obviously a dominant comp to run, and has received both heavy criticism and high praise. What's your take on it?

It's just an all around great comp. It really doesn't have any strong counter comp that you can confidently run. I know that x6tence ran Warrior Warlock Priest, and maybe it does well against it, but I don't it A) playing out the series and B) what if they ran something else, other than WLD. Most teams have to run multiple comps in order to do well, like for us we can't just run Rogue Warlock Druid because someone may counter us. So we run a couple other comps, but they're not sure what we're going to run so it's in our favor. Teams that play WLD only have to focus on WLD, so instead of spending time on multiple comps, they're able to really get their chemistry and teamwork down.

The fact that MLG Dallas is occurring on the same weekend as this event meant that quite a few teams, such as Duelists were forced to make a decision between events. Do you feel that the level of competition is still the same? Do you feel there are teams you wish you were able to play, or are relieved you don't have to play?

I'm happy we don't have to play any other Warrior Warlock Druid teams. There's only one! It's really just the number of teams...the quality of teams is here, I just don't think it's the right number of teams. MLG Dallas has 7 teams, we have 7 teams and we're split. You could have 14 really good teams playing each other, but instead you have half at one event and half at the other. I think Montreal will be hectic, with the patch and all of the comps, but all of the teams will be there.

After this event, whats coming up for EG? Anything that you're looking forward to, perhaps in 2009?

Montreal, everybody is looking forward to Montreal. Everybody is looking forward to some change. Like I said, it's going to be hectic, but there will be a lot of new comps and new strategies, and it will be interesting to see what teams pick up on that quickly. The game right now is not that stable, but a lot of the strategies are already set. You see a comp, and you know exactly what they're going to do and what you have to do. There are no more surprises. When this comes out, there's going to be a lot more surprises, a lot more comps, it's going to be a lot more hectic. I think it's definitely going to be good for the game though.

Thank you very much for taking the time for this interview. Any last words, shoutouts or thank yous?

I'd like to thank my sponors Intel, Razor, Stoked, Kingston. They're great, and of course EG!

Be sure to stay tuned into GotFrag for up to the minute coverage of the event, including EG's first match against x6tence at 1:00 PM EDT.
