World of Warcraft: Selective Queuers advance

The second place American team, Selective Queuers, takes a solid 3-0 win over Council of Mages.
The third round of lower bracket matches has finally completed with Selective Queuers moving onto the lower bracket finals over Council of Mages in a swift 3 to 0 victory. GotFrag breaks down the three matches to give some insight into the critical moments.

The first match between these two teams was definitely a “sizing of titans” where they had to feel each other out to get comfortable with their play styles. This is very evident from the fact that both rogues were dancing at sub 1000 HP a few times without either team getting a kill. At this point, it seemed as if though neither team was prepared to actually swap for the kill and let them survive for quite a bit longer. However, later in the match there was a clutch Deadly Throw that interrupted a polymorph from Snowstorm, allowed SQ to catch up and finish the mage off.

The second match was quick to attempt to determine the skill of Selective Queuers druid/ He had been happily kiting around Student's rogue when a huge burst brought him to critical HP levels. However, he had saved his trinket for this exact moment and utilized it to it's fullest, saving him from certain death. However, this proved to be the ultimate downfall of CoM's – they allowed the Queuers too much room to breathe and allowed them to wither down Snowstorm again in a clutch moment of preventative CC on their Priest.

While match three did not have any exact “turning the tide” moment, overall it was a great show of Selective Queuers ability to control their opponents. The use of Cyclone and Fear's allowed SQ to walk all over CoM until Snowstorm had already burned his two iceblocks. A final cyclone on Hyoga, Council of Mage's Priest, allowed SQ to catch up and ultimately take down Snowstorm with ease.

In the end, Selective Queuers proved exactly why they were invited to this tournament in the first place. Switching up from their normal comp of WLD, SQ decided to run RLD in an attempt to counter CoM's superb RMP play. In the end, CoM proved no match for the overall control ability of Seletive Queuers to give them their ride to the lower bracket finals and, hopefully, the final showdown here at BlizzCon 2008.
