World of Warcraft: Nihilum takes GGE in opening game of EM

Nihilum wins a close opening game against the American team of GotGame East.
The WoW tournament at Extreme Masters Montreal kicked off today with an intense match between Nihilum Plasma and GotGame East.

The American GotGame squad got off to an early lead, and Inflame of Nihilum spoke with GotFrag about what happened.

"First game we rolled warrior mage druid, but it didn't work very well against their setup. Our warrior just got gimped. From then on we went WLD."

The Europeans went on to take a 2-1 lead with their bread and butter comp of WLD, before GotGame East tied it up 2-2. Many people were wondering just how well they would do here in Montreal, with the new 3.0 patch severely nerfing the strong composition.

"WLD is not as good, but we can obviously play it. Also it's a lot about having the new abilities, for example there's an AoE slowing effect that i used to have, but no longer have it. It's a lot harder to peel off my druid."

Regardless of the changes, Nihilum played their game to perfection and took the final game of the series to seal the victory in their first match.

Inflame went on to talk about their lack of experience with the new patch, as well as what other comps they are thinking about running with the new changes.

"We haven't gotten any practice with the new patch due to us traveling around the US and Canada. We didn't get to test the new abilities, which is unfortunate, but we do have other comps such as Warrior, Mage, Druid as well as triple DPS Warlock, Mage Rogue."

And so goes the theme of this event. Being so unfamiliar with the brand new patch, teams have had to rely more heavily on their ability to adapt to the situation in place of their natural talent. Will Nihilum be able to continue the success that they displayed during this early game? Or will a future match end them more quickly than they or any fan could anticipate. Keep checking gotfrag for the latest updates through the weekend!
